More of a nostalgia piece, but does make me want to swap out the stocks for a giant pair

all i know is i had a '89 mazda gt 2.0L turbo & i agree 100% with the statement in the article that if your car was not on dry pavement & headed directly & i mean directly straight forward it was trying to kill you. & this car was same a ford probe. when i took it for a test drive i thought the salesman was trying to be funny when he asked if i had a crash helmet. i'd didn't push much on test drive but after a few months of ownwership it scared me to death a number of times. so not i would not go back to get that thrill. love the way the sho does it.

I remember the lag on my brother's 98 MKIV Supra. Neck snapping. And delightful.

I think it has its place on certain models. It seemed at home in the Supra. But I'm glad the SHO power delivery is more linear. It seems to better fit the car, IMHO.

My Talon doesn't make any real power until after 4500 rpm but pulls hard to 8500  .... I equate it to driving a hand grenade, pull the pin and wait for the huge bang

I had a 2002 VW Passat 1.8T that was dangerous if you had to get up and go.  Took forever to get up and go.  Was much better after I chipped it.

In that case, a 400 horsepower, 4400 lb car is dangerous.
s***, walking to the mailbox has its potential hazards.
