Steam sound and no air when going through car wash

So everytime I take my SHO through the local car wash (when it's cold out), after a minute of water spraying I'll start to hear a steam sound coming from the passenger compartment (by the cabin air filter). It's like water hitting a hot pan sound. When it happens it will get louder and louder and I'll lose pretty much all air flow (but it'll sound like it's blowing full blast) . After a while it'll go away and I'll get air back.. Obviously it seems like water is getting where it shouldn't.. Just bad design or is something probably wrong with my car? Been happening all winter and just finally want to know what the heck is going on! Thanks!

Well, there are heater and A/C hoses and switches in that area,  along with their controlling electronics.  Any visible leaks into I the cabin?   I do remember a clogged sunroof drain as a leak problem in that gen,  so maybe blow it out with compressed air?

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

No visible leaks that I can identify into the cabin. I'll keep checking though. I'll clean out that drain as well just in case. Went for another drive about an hour later and still barely have any air in the cabin. Hopefully I didn't wreck that plastic air piece that seems to be an occurring problem with these cars. I'll see if I get air back later today.

Have you checked the cabin air filter? Is it wet? Any water inside behind the glove box? Carpet wet? Start pulling stuff back a little and look for any leaks right after the car wash.

Ok, I'm feeling really dumb :D  What plastic air piece are you referring to?  Also, you didn't remove the windshield cowl rubber strip, right?

I was thinking that door blend actuator but that might not be the same issue I'm thinking of. I didn't remove any rubber strip! Unless the person before me did. To my knowledge nothing is missing. I just replaced my old cabin air filter but I'll check and see if it's wet at all. Just don't know why I'd lose air flow

No this happened long before I installed the methanol kit. It happened from the moment I got the car and washed it in the cold. I have just always assumed it was just a poor design that allowed a small amount of water somewhere. Never been an issue other than the sound for a minute and then it goes away. But this time it lasted for over an hour and still had no air..
