Was going to change out the rdu fluid today with some Lucas gear oil I had in the garage, but it's 80w-90 conventional, good idea/bad idea?

Should be fine. Manual does not specify synblend or synthetic for the RDU. This is the info on the Motorcraft product (properties starting pg 9):
https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubricants.com/main/product.asp?product=SAE%2080W-90%20Premium%20Rear%20Axle%20Lubricant&category=Transaxle%20Fluid
Lucas product:
http://lucasoil.com/products/gear-oil/gear-oil/lucas-heavy-duty-80w-90-gear-oil
Whatever replacement product you use should meet XY-80W90-QL /WSP-M2C197-A/GL-5/MT-1 standards.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights
If tuned: Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!
