Just joined the forum because I might be picking up a 2013 Fusion SE 2.0T this week.    I used to be heavy into cars, particularly turbo cars... Had a Talon TSi, WRX, twin-turbo C6 Corvette... All heavily modded.    About 5 or 6 years ago I got completely out of cars, picked up a Civic as a commuter car for winter, and have been hooked on 2 wheels ever since.   The problem now is that I need to sell the Civic and trade in my girlfriends 2013 Fiesta that she is upside down on.  Obviously, Ford is going to be the most aggressive on the trade allowance, so I'm looking to see what my local dealer has in stock (g/f picked up a '14 Escape there last week).  They told me they have this SE coming in the end of this week.   About 30k miles, leather package, 2 liter, etc.   so I started researching the car.  Seems like it will fit the bill for what I need and may even be a little fun to drive with the 2.0 Ecoboost.

My question is; I had a Cobb Accessport for my WRX years ago (before I went balls out on it) and I remember it being a great value for the car's stage1 & 2 mods.   If I pick this Fusion up, I'd seriously be interested in the Accessport again, as I won't be doing much to the car in terms of power mods, and looking at Steeda's site, it looks like their stage1 map is what I'd go for.   So, does anyone here have 1st hand experience with the 2.0 and an Accessport??

Thanks,

Mors

Sell the Cobb and go with Livernois for the tuning.  Quite a few tuned Fusion 2.0T's.  Not sure if I have seen them in the 13's yet, but low 14's.

I have to ask, why are you dealing around with a GF's mess?  I'd run away if she's trading in a '13 for a '14 and is way in the hole.  Doesn't sound smart at all.

I'd also go for a used 201-12 SHO, I bet it isn't much more expensive than the Fusion.  A nice used SHO with 40K miles can be had for $20K.  Hard to beat that, other than an used Infiniti G37x maybe.

I don't have the Cobb, I said I would be interested in it.  As for the trading scenario, it's complicated...  We needed a larger vehicle for the family, which is why she got the Escape.   As for running away, I own a house with her and have kids, so it's not exactly and option.    Also, I hate cars.   Really don't care for them anymore, and if I didn't need one I don't think I'd own one.   So I don't want to spend more than $20k OTD.    The Fusion they have coming in is $17k and will suffice.   I only plan on keeping it for 5 years or so and then probably giving it to our oldest daughter.

Thanks for the input on the alternate tuner, I'll check it out.

Is the Fusion a CPO?  I would def get something with a Ford warranty (b2b + ESP).  That will pay for itself easily over the duration you have your ride.  The SHO will function well as a DD and luggage/equipment/building materials etc hauler, in addition to a sports sedan should you change your mind.  If you are mpg centric, then the Fusion will offer better numbers 22/33 vs 17/25, stock to stock.  Many tuning options if & when.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Gotcha.  I've done some stupid things ($$$) with ex-girlfriends, so try to keep guys from doing the same.  Kids are involved, so that's different.

For $20K OTD, probably hard to beat a '13 Fusion 2.0T then.

Definitely would do Livernois for the tune.  Go on youtube, you'll find Fusion dynos and 1/4 mile runs.  Definitely have some traction issues after the boost goes up.

Thanks, I will definitely shoot him an email of I end up picking this car up.

It's funny, before this past week I never have the new Fusions a second look, but the more I see them, the more I like them.  I just need a decent car to get me back and forth in the winter and on the occasional trip where I can't ride.   Having it be fun to drive is a plus.   I've been stuck in a '07 Civic for the past 5 years, and a Hybrid on top of it... It will be nice to not mind driving so much of this all ends up happening.   The 2.0T base HP/TQ is comforting coming from a 95hp ****box.

By CPO do you mean certified?   If so then it's not.  It's coming straight in from auction with a minimal RO I'd imagine to keep the price down.   I'll tryn beat them up on a extended warranty tho.  I want to see the car first and make sure it's all good.  I haven't even driven one yet.   I've actually never even owned a Ford!

You can check out Ford ESP pricing online to get an idea of what to ask for.  Popular online dealers include Flood Ford, Anderson Koch, Lombard Ford, etc.

Thanks for all the input so far.   I'm actually going to look at a used 2014 Titanium this weekend.  It's got 25k and the dealer is asking $21,500 which sounds like a really good deal.   I think I'm willing to pay $4k more over the SE to get a loaded AWD model and that in the long run I'll be much happier.  I've never been a fan of FWD platforms, and in the past I've had a Talon TSi, WRX, and a Mazdaspeed6... so AWD turbos are in my blood!   If I gotta get in a cage, might as well do it right...  :coolgleam:

Find out how long car been sitting on dealers lot. ANythin over 30 days they become "desparate" to move. THen if you have access (Ido) to actual dealer pricing and wholesale cost make your deal with that info.

Bought my 2011 in 2013 for $17k. Had been on dealers lot for 3-4 months. And mine was not a Ford CPO. Didnt matter because I bought service plan through credit union which was much better anyway if needed. All cars go through certain checks anyway, you just want  a reputable one that stand behind the product they sell.

The website I found the car on, some 3rd party listing site, says its been listed for 170 days.   How accurate that is, makes me second guess, being that its a 2014 with 25k...  Still, the listed price is about $4k under retail and almost $15k less than new MSRP.... The cars only a year old!

Well, 2014s started being produced in 2013, and the miles could be highway ...  Check this site for production data:

Absolutely.  Not saying its impossible, it could definitely have a 2013 build date, and have been a long distance commuter/company car or whatever.   Still, $21.5 is quite a bit below book and definitely about $2-3k below what other dealers in the area are asking.  I will tryn beat them up, being as I have negative equity to assume (which I will likely wash with an equal or greater down payment, unfortunately).  Plus, Saturday is the last day of the month!  I was in car sales for 5 years, so I know personally how bad that day sucks and how hard they tryn close out their numbers for bonuses etc.  I have a realistic number in my head of where I want to be.  If they're able to get me within $30 a month, I'll drive it home.   All assuming that I like the car that I've yet to even drive.   Been watching YouTube reviews quite a bit though, and the car seems so far to fit my bill; comfort, quality, practical tech, and a decent balance of economy/performance.   I want a car I'm comfortable in, that isn't totally boring to drive.  So far it seems like it should get me there...
