Thoughts???

I have never, ever totaled up the amount I've put into my SHO. Why?

I invoke the "plausible deniability" factor whenever the Wife, or others, ask the same question(s).

Suffice to say, in order to maintain any semblance of longevity at the HP #'s you're desiring, you'll definitely want to harden the internals, and build around that outwards.

In closing, I got a chuckle out of your "Corporate Sponsorship, LLC" comment......

That's gotta be THE SINGLE biggest misnomer from various members here that I am somehow sponsored, or have taken money from any of the vendors who've worked on my car, or even funnier yet, that I've been on any of their payrolls.

None of it is true.

I have my annual W2's to vouch for that, as well as a Wife who constantly crabs about what I do to my car, as well as how much she perceives I spend on my car.

It's taken many long hours of overtime, coupled with me doing a fair amount of the labor, and this being literally my only hobby, which has gotten me to where I'm at with my SHO.

It takes Heart. Passion. Vision, and Perseverance I assure you.

As much as you've spent, you probably should have a sponsorship.....

Ok, you got me there. I assumed you had some sponsorships. Because seems your car is front page of so many ground breaking feats.

Great job nonetheless. Even better since you gotta work a 9-5 to pay for it all.

I'll take anything I can get to feed my habits lol. But my mod breakdown is something like this...
1. LMS tuner, Airraid, plugs, T-stat     $600
2. Downpipes (include install)            $1100
3. Stereo upgrade                             $2200
4. Tires/wheels                                 $1300

Only other possible thing is the maybe the meth kit. There's a thread to start too.

Ok you have me sold on this pretty good now. I am thinking LME downpipes with the magnaflow x-pipe but I was wondering about doing 2.5" just between the downpipes and the x-pipe. Thoughts on this and estimated price?

Downpipes and X-pipe already 2 1/2". Just a 2 1/4 - 2 1/2" transition to X-pipe. Install cost me $300. Kept OEM exhaust and mufflers.

Mike has a set of PPE DP's to sell. You can probably order from him and save yourself the wait. But they are PPE downpipes.

You are still limiting yourself in that 3 feet of 2.25" pipe between the downpipes and the x. After the x it all opens up and your restriction is gone but while I'm under there why not just fix that. Is my thinking right on this?

Also LME is an hour from my house so getting the pipes from them will be quicker as they have them in stock. I could also have them bring me a set to milan on saturday maybe.

And LME being local is sure a good thing. Its your money do as you please. But I think the stock system is fine for what most have. If I had bigger turbos AND meth AND my exhaust actually tuned via exhaust measurements then MAYBE I would go a full 2 1/2" But its a V6, twin turbo. Cant make it sound like a V8.

My car is NOT a race car. Nor is it a car that will see a lot of track time. There are other limits that will be hit before the exhaust is ever an issue, performance wise. Maybe for sound and note you can upsize. It may change some but for me I wanted to maintain a quiet car. NO RASPINESS. NO DRONE!. For me, it is not worth it. Besides if its truly flowing too freely then you may cause droning or lack of back pressure which could hurt performance.

Another option is dp's, cutout, finished off with OEM. Best of both worlds. Imho there is no catback worth any money on these cars because I think they all sound like crap.

Hopefully this setup will all be installed in the 2015 soon.

There are some fine sounding v6 engines.....BMW, Nissan, etc. I wonder what it is about ours that seemingly nothing improves the sound.

BMW has never made a v6 because the mechanics of a straight 6 are better.

You are correct, I should have stated 6 cyl engines.

My early 80's seven series sounded better than the SHO, lol....

So am I correct in assuming you can do a 3rd cat/resonator delete without a CEL? Is there an O2 sensor past the 3rd cat?

All the 02 sensors are located in the front of the DP,you can probably see one if you look inside your engine at the bottom, right below the oil dipstick. Z

Hopefully my last question on this. Why did you go with a 2.5" x pipe instead of just the 2.25"? I am going to get this setup next week probably and was wondering if the 2.5" is really worth the difficulty of welding the uneven pipe sizes. LME downpipes are ordered, just need to order the X-pipe.

The MagnaFlow X pipe is pre-made at factory. Muffler shops just pull from shelf to install. You can have muffler shop build any size you want but would be too cost prohibitive for me.
