Any tips to make my job easier? I dont think I can wait much longer to tune it lol

I was too impatient to catch the coolant when I removed the housing. I felt like it would never stop spewing green gold lol. I took my intake off for better access. Of course make sure your engine is cold and you have coolant on hand to refill. Job took 30 min start to finish for me. Good luck!

I did it with the engine dead cold and heater off. I elevated the front of the car about 6 inches... Both front tires (used the elevated concrete in the end of the garage). I loosened the pipe from the rear turbo to get it out of the way (I was VTA). I lost about 4-6 oz coolant and never had to burp it. Be sure to have a clean something to catch coolant. Of course look at the screws and parts so everything is ready. The trick is the coolant... The job is otherwise easy.

Have towels handy, I used them to cover the starter and other components that will be waterfalled upon.

I fought an air pocket to death after doing mine. When I broke down and bought the "Lisle spill free funnel" it was a breeze.

When filling back up I had front passenger side jacked up to help. After filled start car and warm up til fans come on, turn heat to full blast and rev for a minute at 2500 rpm's. Let car sit for minute and turn off. Repeat a few times checking coolant levels.

The secret is all in SHOnUup pat pop bottle coolant catcher,cheap and effective,and have on hand an extra gallon of coolant for security purposes,but if you have time and due for a coolant flush,figure this will be the best time to do it,if you have some time on your hands,nothing better than having fresh coolant to your vehicle for optimum performance.

Last time I did the tstat I hooked a hose to the pop bottle so I could direct flow to container instead of catching 12-15 ounces at a time.

Complete fail, hose got caught up when the time came to pull tstat and sneak it in there....will try again with some modifications in the future.

Got mine done today. Unfortunately i had quiet a bit that leaked out all over the bottom part of the engine. Do you guys think i should try to rinse off the engine with water tomorrow? Maybe hot water? I didnt clean it good since i was too eager to run the car with the tune.

When i did it on my car it was ony a few months old and spent a good hour cleaning every drop of coolant off,in your case if you drove it already the heat transfer already did the job for you(the excitement of getting your first tune).

I wanted to do the same but its cold outside and everything needed to get the job done is still frozen. I think I might get frw buckets of hot water today and just try to clean it up a bit, its probably too late now tho.

This is my original stat that came out of my car when i swapped it for the Reishe 170stat which came with a gasket,the original one as shown on pic says 180 degree stat,and if you install a 160 stat you use the oem gasket as shown in pic #2,and place it as shown,hope it helps someone.
