I purchased my SHO back in 8/13 and not to much info on traction in the snow related to the SHO,last winter basically did not really drive it so much due to having my Ford truck, now with the SHO being my only car thats suitable for the snow, besides my rear wheel drive bmw,my question is how deep of snow have you driven your car on,just curious to know cause expecting a fairly llarge amount of snow today, wish had an X-SPORT,thanks,Z.

Other than acting like a snow plow at times, due to my lower front chin spoiler.....

No issues to report.

'Tis actually kind of fun driving her around in the snow.....

A good thing to keep in mind is, is that regardless of the AWD and your ability to make use of better traction capabilities, that doesn't always necessarily equate into better braking ability.

AWD tends to instill a sense of OVER CONFIDENCE (in the snow) and most driver's don't heed caution as such.

Here's a few images of mine captured from last Winter's excessive amounts of snowfall that we saw in the CHI-Town area:

Thankfully Mother Nature's been relatively kind to us this year.

I've driven mine in 6" with no issues.  Wouldn't want to go much more, especially if it's really hard packed snow.  I run winter tires.

Ah yes, the winter bearding ritual :) Not that my experience counts, but I had plowed through 10+ inches of snow in the ole Gen 2 SHOs.  Packed snow was never an issue coz of driving on top of it, rather than through it.  Unpacked, 6-7" max for semi-normal driving.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I've been though 4-5" without any trouble. Even climbed up a mountain pass with a few inches of snow on it.

THey do great really. I am running blizzaks and a tune still. The natural FWD basis of the system can be exploited to cause some rather fun tail out conditions. With snow tires you can easily get going with out the car going to AWD. then you make a turn and mash the throttle. The front wheels slip so it sends power to the rear, that instant power to the rear causes it to break loose and cause some fun.... Or if you wasnt expecting the condition a instant wtf moment. lol.

Im stock height and 6 inches is the most i have been in. But not worried about more

My only concern for you is that you have the PP so if still have to stock summer tires on it your life will suck.  If you have all seasons now then you won't have a problem.  I love mine.  We got buried in SW Michigan last year and she was a tank.  I agree with the joys of having tail out fun when you want to but lots of grip when you need it and drive like a normal human should.

Right ^^ If you have the PP stock tires, things will not go well in the snow.  With decent all season tires, the SHO is excellent IMO.  With dedicated winter tires, of course even better, but I run good All Season tires here in MI, with no complaints.

I was driving around in about 6-8 inches of snow without any issues,at first had a little tough time but by disabling the traction control fully on the PP noticed a huge difference, and the Goodyear sport all seasons helped out, thanks,Z.
