Bad 1/4 mile times?

So I went to the track the other night with my 2010 SHO and my fastest time was a 13.4. I know guys with the same mods are running 12's, what am I doing wrong? I live in phoenix and it was just about perfect out there about 70 at night. I have a Airaid intake, custom magnaflow catback and a boost tune from Torrie. Any thoughts? Also, seems most were running slow, new camaros and mustangs were running in the 14's all night.

Probably just the timing system at the track well atleast for 40 yard dash electronic timing can be out of wack very easy. Or simply the track is super slick and no one can get traction

Maybe its my tires, i need new ones but I wasn't spinning a whole lot. With Torries tune this thing always wants to rip the tires off going into second. No complaints though. And by the way I never pay attention to all those numbers so don't rip me if some suck haha

Looks like you've got .2 to make up on your 60'. Could be combo of bad prepped track and tires, or maybe launch technique. Avg. 60' would be about a 1.83.

How are you launching the yacht?
What track and time of run? I could pull up the DA for the night.

I usually try and brake boost at the line around 2000 rpms. Could lowering the car and getting new tires help? The track is Wild Horse Pass Raceway in Chandler Az on 10/5/14. About 10 pm. I mean Im happy cause thats the best time Ive had in it, but I know it should run better.

Looking at other time slips on the forum, its almost like the car is falling off in the top end. Am I just seeing things?

Haven't looked up your track yet but your times remind me of my times at bandimere in Colorado. The Da or plain altitude high??  You have to compare your times at your track to other racer there the same night.  I doubt I will make it into the 12 where i live due to altitude.

The Da for your track on that date and time was around 3000 feet above sea level.   So it will have some effect but your times still seem slow.  Could be a timing issue at the track or slick.  Have you data logged and had your tune adjusted by torrie? His initial tunes are set on the safe side to protect the consumer.

Other times were slower than expected for 'performance' cars too. Could not having my car retuned after a catback install hurt or help? I'm trying to do data logging with just my hand held SCT (I own Macs) but can't get it done for some reason and since haven't gotten a new tune.

That DA is no help for sure. But I think some fine tuning would help a ton. Lowering the car with stiffer springs and shocks will help on the launch for sure. After exaust a new tune is recommended. There should be a how to video up shortly on datalogging to help in the process.

Like it was said earlier, your 60 foot time is bad suggesting a grip/launch problem. Are you turning off Advance trac/traction control? Are you in "S"port mode?

Ok, I feel like a dummy now. How do I get into sport mode? I usually turn off traction control. Is there something else I'm not doing?

Have a look-see through this thread, it will help get the most out of your SHO:

Is your SHO PP or non PP equipped?  See the OM for info (pg 251 in case of 2010 SHO).  Only PP SHO's can turn it all the way off:
Control switch pressed and held for more than five seconds, vehicle speed = 0 mph, brakes applied

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Just to clarify. You only have the first tune from torrie?

I'm not sure you can make up .2 on the 60 foot with that da!  Also have you modified your intake by adding extra weather stripping or a lid?  Where your runs made back to back?  Heat soak would be an issue. Another thing I just thought of since you have a 2010 model.  Have you changed your spark plugs and do you know the gap on the plugs.

I have the non PP. And yes, first tune from Torrie, no data logging. The Airaid I have came with the weather stripping for the top of the box. Is that what your referring to? Having a hard time finding a windows device to run Livewire. Can I just data log off of the SCT without being hooked up to a computer? I was thinking about buying a cheap tablet just to data log. Anyone else doing that?
