Torrie what meth mixture do you recommend using? I know Snow offers the Boost Juice and I have a friend who ran that on a boosted 3L in a 1999 Mercury Cougar, but it seems like a lot of people on here are running 100% methanol.

I would say 50-100% depending on your end goals.

Would we see any benifits of running 30% ethanol in the fuel with 100% meth being injected?
13' SHO, Non-PP, Tuned by Torrie, Meth injection, 3 bar, 170* stat, custom axle back exhaust, Prosport Boost gauge.
15' F150 Lariat Sport, all the options, 3.5L Eco. (fiancée ride.)
13' GTCS, will be missed.

tmcphail

Yes it would add octane and help add in the fuel system lost by the ethanol use.

Agreed, downside is further fuel system output degradation compared to E0.

This is where I get confused. Theoretically shouldn't the E provide fuel headroom just like meth? The way I understand it, all meth does is allow you to run less fuel enrichment @WOT(higher safe AFR)...or am I missing something?

tmcphail

Look at the difference in stoich points of the fuel. You need much more volume (pump / injector / raw fuel system output) with E85 VS E0. That is the core. See your WOT FRP for proof of that.

Torrie, do you have a figure on drivetrain loss for the SHO? I calculated about 27% using stock dyno numbers.

Maybe this little discussion can shed some light on methanol vs ethanol in layman-speak:

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

SHOdded, are you getting tired of my noob questions?

LOL!
