This is with 1/2" foam on existing stripping. There is a light line around entire space. Bought the cheaper 1/2" to try and that 3/8" might work for me it looks.

Just dropped little screw holding IAT1 in place...DAMN

Very, very close ...  Hope you dropped that IAT1 screw outside the piping!

I also called Airaid on my lunch hour and they were very polite and know of others concerns about this from the forum. Took my name and address and are sending me the larger blade and D shaped seals. Great customer service. The guy I spoke with also said to have the blade flair out and not in for proper sealing to the hood. I am sure in due time that a redesigned seal or the larger blade style will be in the kit. I look forward to getting it and  starting the process to correct the seal and heat shielding. Thanks everyone that made this happen.

This is the temporary modification.


Local Home Depot didn't have any thicker foam stripping so I put this 1/2" stuff on for now. Looks like it seals it completely though, just don't like the style of foam.  Have a place called the Foam Factory here and will try them for something special tomorrow.

My original stripping did lay quite flat making the foam attach easy on it but the other style stripping looks much better for foam to sit more squarely to hood.

At least the box is sealed and staying that way. Some progress that isn't being replaced.

Anyone else get the urge to wrap more of the intake tubing with the insulation...lol
