Hey everyone! I'm a new SHO guy, not really that new to the forums, but I just haven't had the time to really post anything since I've become a member here. A little history about me, I've had a number of decent cars in the past. My first tuner car was a 1995 Nissan 240SX SE, in which I opted to keep the 2.4 liter DOHC iron block engine and turbo it instead of swapping it with the Silvia engine that most people chose to do. Back then, there weren't many parts for it and I kept blowing the head gasket on it. Needless to say, it got too expensive to upkeep and I ended up getting a 2003 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. It had minor mods on it. An APR tune, intake, exhaust and suspension. It was nice, but I ended up getting a 2007 350Z HR which was nice. I really enjoyed that car, but I needed something that could haul more than 2 people, so I picked up a 2010 Mitsubishi Evo X. I had almost every bolt on available for that car without changing turbos or internals. I can say it is probably the closest I could ever get to a race car that was legal for the road. Keep in mind that I had these cars one by one. I don't still have all of them, unfortunately. Anyhow, the time came up recently that I could get a new car to use personally and for my job. Only certain cars were approved for me to use for my job and so the obvious choice was the Ford Taurus SHO. So here I am. There were no PP available and I needed to pick up a car soon after I sold my Evo, so I settled with a non PP SHO.
I am very happy with it despite it is the first car I ever owned with an automatic transmission. I wish the gears were spaced out evenly on the SHO. There's a huge gap from 2nd to 3rd and the gears are really tall. I can only use 89 octane gas for work since it is provided, so I got a tuner from Torrie with an 87, 89, and 92 octane tune. I'm really happy with it along with the Airaid intake and my custom exhaust. I really wanted to get the exhaust that everyone is getting for their SHO's, but I sort of ran out of funds so I settled with a custom dual 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with Megan mufflers.
http://youtu.be/f2Fw_EzdBjII wanted to know that if for some reason I could upgrade the turbos, I know I won't get the most benefit out of it, along with anything else, because I'm not able to run 92 octane gas. But is it possible to get tuned to run bigger turbos on 89 octane? Meth/water injection is not an option for me. Anyhow, I'm glad to be here and hope to learn as much as possible from the forums.
