funny that we were just speaking about a platform like this in the other thread... you can defintely tell it's the new mustang but the lincoln triming actually looks okay on this. Plus they mention using the 3.7L motor with TTs. That does seem pretty impressive. This isn't the first time i've heard that lincoln was going to make a new platform based on the RWD mustang either.
Maybe this may happen....   here's for wishful thinking :thumb:

There isn't and never will be a 3.7 ecoboost. I think they meant the 3.5. This is all the work of  a paid Artist. Ford has nothing to do with this article.

It's a great concept and would be cool to see in action. Maybe ford will notice this and actually try to make one.
13' SHO, Non-PP, Tuned by Torrie, Meth injection, 3 bar, 170* stat, custom axle back exhaust, Prosport Boost gauge.
15' F150 Lariat Sport, all the options, 3.5L Eco. (fiancée ride.)
13' GTCS, will be missed.

there is the ford 3.7L which is used in the mkz. If they did TT it would output somewhere in the 400 hp level. Considering that GM's 3.6L TT puts out 420 hp, i would expect somewhere near the same results if that did happen.

Ford would not add another ecoboost to the line up when it's only .2L larger. That's a ton of money in r&d to get the 3.7 milled in a TT format. Just not going to happen.

The 3.5 in the trucks makes plenty of power. Ford would just tune it to what they need for the car.

true,
however, the 3.5L TT does make decent power and if that platform went into this concept platform that could be a decent base like the MKS now. This would be in direct competition with the audi S5 and less expensive i'm sure.

Looks better than a mustang to me.

The idea of MKR has been kick around for several years now. And it was suppose to be built at my plant. But from what we were told it would have the same engines as the mustang. I don't see it making it's way to market any time soon. As much fords future plans have been apparently put on the back burner.

Lincoln just needs to make a good four door performace sedan. Would sell to the masses better I think. It always comes down to how much money can be made. That's all this is about.

Any further insight into this, Crash?  Hope all is (relatively) well within the Blue Oval.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

agreed.  Needs to be 5.0 with twins and I'd buy.  But I wouldn't pay $20K over the sticker of a Mustang just because it was a Lincoln.

Ford will never make anything that would take attention away from the beloved Mustang. This is one reason why you'll never see some of the amazing Aussie cars here.

I also used to know a former Ford engineer. In '89, when the Tbird SC (first year) won Motortrend's Car of the Year award, the engineers involved with the design of the car were repremanded due to the fact that it bested the Mustang. True story.

that's a dame shame... the ford thunder bird / mercury cougar SC were one of my favorite 90's ford builds. Workers repremanded because they built something more fun to drive than the Mustang.

I had a T-bird SC.  It was the 2nd most favorite car I ever owned - just behind my current MKS.

I bought new in 1990 a 35th aniversary 5spd.  It stickered a little over 20K.  I also later on had an 89 Cougar XR7 5spd.   Popped the HG's on the Cougar.  Fixed that, then a year or so later threw a rod, probably from the HG's going(hydrolocked at some point).  Put a new motor in it than moved on.  They are extremely difficult to work on, and though they drive great don't make the power of more modern vehicles.

The 89 with CAI, adjustable fuel pressure reg, ASP upper pulley only went 14.3 @ 95.

Not to get further off topic, but this is my current real project car...

For those that don't recognize, it's a 95 5-speed SC...final year of the SC...1 of 574 5-speeds. It's my 4th MN12 chassis car...preceded by a 93 V6, a 92 5-speed, and an all motor 95 4.6. This one has 156k all original miles, down to the original plug wires. It's currently torn and stripped down in my garage getting cleaned/rebuilt/modded.

They are indeed amazing cars.
