Hello all. I just bought a silver 2010 SHO 3 weeks ago. I paid 19k for it with 51k miles plus an extended warranty good till 111k bumper to bumper. I was raised a big GM fan so I am a bit biased. I also currently own a 1957 Chevy pickup and a 1968 Camaro RS. My high school truck was a 1990 454SS  at 10 MPG back when gas was 87 cents a gallon. Also had 99 GTP with exhaust/intake and smaller s/c pulley in the military for a few years. Can you see the trend? lol My 2001 S10 finally blew up so it was time for a new commuter. Was looking for a 2013 Fusion because I really liked the grill and wanted a 4 door with AWD for winter, but test drove a SHO and just instantly liked how it rides. Of all the GM cars I test drove, I was not impressed, especially the Buick Riviera. I think GM is slipping when it comes to fun cars. If they would bring back the G8 and add AWD then I wouldn't be on this site tbh. This SHO has no extra options that I can tell which is fine. I don't know if it is just this car or what, but it feels no faster than my old GTP despite the SHO having like 120 more hp. However the SHO pulls much harder than the GTP once it hits 80 MPH. Maybe I bought a slow one, but thats OK, it gets the job done and I checked for smoke from wearing rings and didn't see any.  The best MPG I can absolutely get on the highway at 70 mph is 25. I'm averaging 21 with my heavy foot. I really like the feel of the car. It just plain turns and corners nice is all I can say. Why do these cars not come standard with a boost gauge?

My plans:

1st:Definitely a tune from most likely livernois
2nd:window visors. Are the dealership ones the kind that slips in the door? or are they the ugly double sided tape kind?
3rd:some sort of exhaust that lets ya hear the turbos
4th:turbos upgrade once they come down in price

I will trade the 2010 for a used 2014 with PP in a year if the 2010 doesn't give me problems.

Like I said this is my first Ford ever so I have a lot to learn and am glad this site exists and hope to meet fellow SHO owners .

Welcome and congratulations! As the former owner of a 2004 tuned/cammed/pullied GTP I strongly suggest a tune. Then go GTP hunting. You wont be disappointed especially with AWD. The Taurus is a much smoother car and does feel smoother....

Welcome to the community, and congrats on your SHO!!!  Glad you made it over the great divide to Ford :D  You've had some great rides :thumb: and hopefully this one will continue the trend.  The G8/GTP is/was kinda hard to beat in the fun factor area.

A list of TSBs for your MY SHO:  http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php/topic,496.  While not complete, it will give you an idea of what is known already.

A discussion on effective mods for the SHO:  http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php/topic,808

1.  A tune is your biggest bang for the buck, can't go wrong with either Livernois or Unleashed.  A quick comparo here:  http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php/topic,2782.0.html  Add a 3-bar MAP to really give the tune breathing room.  A 170/160 TStat especially if you live in a hotter climate.  The tune may even improve your mpg!
2.  Not sure about the window visors, EGR and Weathertech make some good aftermarket units
3.  Many options when it comes to hearing the turbos:  do the BOV VTA mod, add downpipes, and/or change the catbacks.  For sound samples, go here http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php/topic,2462.0.html
4.  Turbo upgrades will definitely pay for themselves

Before you tune, do all the standard checks:  spark plugs gapped to 0.030, turbo piping properly clamped, no oil in the turbos, etc.  Sounds like the plugs may be worn, if so, use sp534 as replacements.

With 51k on the clock, think about a PTU fluid flush.  This will greatly extend the life of the powertrain, and do yourself and the next owner a big favor.  Also check to make sure all your upgrades transfer to the 2014.  The tune will not, unfortunately, due to updated ECU in the SHO starting in 2014.

Check your intercooler for accumulated PCV fluids (pretty nasty).  Using full synthetic engine oil may help reduce this particular problem.

Think about lowering the car with H&R springs, or get Megan coilovers for the 2010 (won't transfer to the 2014 tho).  This will help with handling and performance.

Most people are using computerized displays through Torque or Forscan etc. off of the OBD port.  Kinks are still being worked out, and new PIDs being discovered & verified.

Who knows, you may decide to hang on to the 2010!
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Surprised that you think the GTP felt just as fast considering the 0-60 times arespread apart by two seconds in favor of the SHO. Welcome to the forum just the same.

Welcome to the forum.  This is my first Ford too..  I feel the same way about GM. They just haven't had anything practical that I want.  I owned a couple gtp and a gxp grand prix.

The 0-60 times favor the SHO because of awd. But a with a pulley swap the gtp car are fast from 10-80. After that the supercharger runs out of steam and the gearing of the tran sucks..   and the gtp are a lot lighter.

But I love my car now perfect for me.

Welcome to EBPF Quinid!
:WELCOME:
Enjoy... There's a wealth of experience here!

As far as performance mods, I have to echo Manu's rec of the 3BAR MAP....$50-$60 bucks, 2 minutes, and have tune adjusted for it... This "little" mod will massively improve your 0-60, 1/8, and 1/4. At least with LMS 4x or v8 tunes (my only objective data) it is worth .47sec reduction in the quarter and sub 4sec 0-60... And honestly you will notice the SHO running better and performing smoother.

As far as hearing the turbos....exhaust won't really add much.  However the downpipes will give you a throatier exhaust note and cause turbos to spool at much lower rims giving you the 2200 rpm torque at 1600-1700rpms... Kinda extends the power curve lower... Even with stock tune. Have your tune adjusted for the DP to get the most benefit.

Again on the turbo spooling noise... CIAs will add it... Although there is no performance gain proven at this time.... MDesign has a promising new one.... They are all great eye candy.

To really compare performance.... Get a gtp with 1000# of weight added into the trunk... LOL

Surprised that you think the GTP felt just as fast considering the 0-O0es arespread apart by two seconds in favor of the SHO. Welcome to the forum just the same.

I mean my gtp was upgraded n I forgot to mention it was tuned as well. N the gtp0- 60 is slower,  mostly cuz the gtp spins out through second gear. Once it grabs and not chucks a cv shaft or second gear, then hold on. But this SHO  definitely beats the gtp in handling, comfort,  launch, and top end and with a few upgrades it will  smoke my old gtp no question.  I suppose I was just expecting more based on numbers. Gtp was a mean looking car, but the Sho has its own apeal. It's like"I may be fat but I'll still kick your butt! "

I will definately do the stuff you guys advised.  Ptu flush will be the first. Then ill have my ford guy check the internal stuff n see what he thinks.  Glad to see other GM defectors among me :) My pride isn't so damaged now.

Didnt mean to be negative earlier. I am very happy with my buy.

Welcome!

I've had a few fun GMs... 2006 GTO and a 2006 TrailBlazer SS.  Good times :)

If Cadillac would give the CTS V-Sport AWD, that would be a good start.  But it would be over $70K probably! LOL  Don't understand they gave the V-Sport AWD to the XTS only.  They need to bring back Pontiac and have affordable performance cars again (under $40K).

The '15 Charger dropped AWD from the HEMI R/T.  The SHO/MKS really is the only AWD 360HP+ American sedans left.  I suppose there is the 300C AWD still, bleh.

Welcome to the forum I just started posting myself.
AVS ventvisor #194194 are the in channel window visors.
Check out Unleashed tuning as well as Livernois compare customer service and price. The tunes are very similar performance wise. I myself went with Unleashed.. HUGE Difference over stock. Also Unleashed uses an SCT tuner which will most likely be able to tune a 2014 if you plan on trading in the future.
Search Youtube for the SHOMAN he did a nice video on the dynomax mufflers along with adding an X-pipe and deleting the third cat/resonator.

Sweet thank you for the visors part number. I'll order those today! And good call on the SCT tuner, I'll go that route next week.
