Corrosion recall

About time they finally admitted to the electronic power steering issue, this cost me $1500. The internal relay on my steering gear ended up being corroded which causes them to short/malfunction and will make you lose power-steering. This happens on the most of their cars with the electronic power steering, more so on the Explorer/Flex Ecoboost.

When you get your recall letter, there should be a section about what to do in your situation.

Call your dealer where the work was done and request a refund.

Once rebate is processed, take unexpected cash and buy toys for your car!

How did it cost you $1500? Out of warranty at the time? Maybe you can petition Ford for a partial/ full refund?

I called FoMoCo and they told me the recall is "vin specific" and my vehicle is not covered. I'm going to wait it out until the recalls start getting sent out in the mail which is suppose to happen in July. If I don't get anything I'll be writing Ford with all the data and diagnosis I have that the dealer gave me.

yeah I looked up my vin and no recalls are out for me either ... yet

Only for cars in salt belt states. Doesn't apply to me in Florida. Still, I'd like to have mine replaced just for piece of mind.

Hmm.  I'll have to talk with dealer.  My car is from Dallas,  so probably not on the recall list.
