3 bar MAP

I got my 3 bar this afternoon and I got my tune files yesterday. My part # is AA5Z-9F479-B.  Part went right in perfectly. Loaded my tune and started it up. I noticed a stumble right off, then got the wrench display. Ran Torque to read the code and didn't write down the number but Torque said it was MAP sensor out of range. I put everything back as it was before, loaded the 2 bar tune and the wrench went away. I guess the code will need to drive a bit before Torque stops reporting it. I will try to redo everything fresh tomorrow. Any ideas or suggestions are most welcome.

Most likely faulty part or incorrect tune.  P0106?

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Larry I'd check the tune installed first... I have been told the MyCal Touch, which i believe you use, is a little unusual in that it does not verify the tune with you when you select, but just loads.... and i was told that the first option on the list is always the tune in the car currently.  I'd re-flash, being sure of the choice first (and clear the DTC. while you're there)... If there are still issues... call Anthony and see about another tune DL... it is possible some packets were corrupted during transmission to you PC or from there to the MyCal...

My car is 13 sho,pp when I swapped my old map for 3bar,i noticed a little bit of dirt around the plug hole,i cleaned around it,prior to install,i would inspect the sensor to see if any dirt is inside those electrodes and use some maf cleaner whch is the safest, not to strong and no residue. Also you can do a little troubleshooting swap the new 3bar with the onr by the throttle body same part#that one is also 3bar.

Good point, zamir.  Dirt, loose connections, all the "little" things should be checked.

I'm retracing my steps this morning. Starting from scratch. My hope is that though I certainly think I selected the right tune I could be mistaken....big fingers....touchy touch screen and of course the no verification. I did wipe a tiny bit of oil on the O ring seal to lube it as it squeezed into the bore hole. Wonder if that could cause trouble. I tried to keep the business end clean and dry.

I'd try cleaning the sensor with MAF cleaner, wipe up any oil as much as possible, and re-install without use of oil.  These sensors are expecting only air, so maybe that is it!

I think I've narrowed it down. I reinstalled the 3bar and reloaded the tune twice to make sure I got the tune I wanted. Still threw a code. As suggested I swapped with the 3bar ahead of the throttle body and still threw the same code. I noticed that the old 3bar I swapped with was oilier  than my new one so I don't think contamination is the culprit. Since my MyCal has done the job for me in the past I don't think all of a sudden I'm loading the wrong tune (though it is irritating that it does not verify). I then put the 2bar back in and loaded up my old 2bar tune, and all is well in the code department. My guess now is that I have bad 3 bar tune files. Sound logical?

Yup... get a new tune... if that doesn't fix it.. consider a new 3BAR

BTW, Great detective work Larry!

Just following all the good advice I've received. I have emailed Anthony and after convincing him that I was indeed changing the sensor on the manifold, he asked for the part number of my 3 bar and said he would present my situation to the calibrator for consideration. Fingers crossed......

Another thing that you might consider is that the one you bought could be labeled wrong. We have seen that, and although rare, could present that issue, and an incorrect sensor can cause a problem even if you swap locations, it will still run poorly.

The box has two numbers AA5Z-9F479-B and CX-2231-   The sensor itself has FoMoCo, AA5A-9F479-AB, G1UHF Germany, 5WK9 6848
