Kudos to Livernois!

I sent a message to Livernois on this board last week and after a couple of messages and to my surprise, I received a call from Brandon with LMS. He asked me a couple of quick questions and then took my order right there and then. BTW, did I say I was still sleeping when he called :)

I waited a few days and received the MyCal unit on Wednesday this week, and after  reading the instructions, plugged it in and got the relevant information. I emailed LMS the next day (Thursday) and again to my surprise, I got a call in around lunch time ( SoCal time Friday ) from Brandon - this time I was fully awake LOL. He verified the information that I had sent and said it would take 24-48 business hours to get my tune.

Saturday morning, I checked my emails and what a pleasant surprise, I had gotten an email from LMS saying my tunes are ready. I downloaded them and loaded them into my tuner. I did not get a chance to flash my car till Sunday. When I did (91 Perf v.8), I was very pleasantly surprised.

The car feels much better and then I started wondering, why didn't Ford ship the car with this tune instead. The car feels so much better. It pulls and there is no hesitation when you stomp it. Admittedly, I only took a short drive but I feel like I finally have the car that I expected.

I was just want to thank LMS, Brandon and whoever did the tune for the service, follow-up and the quickest turnaround I have ever experienced. One of my most pleasant experiences ordering and receiving what I expected but what took it over the top was the personal service and quick turnaround.

Glad to hear it!  Enjoy eating rice!

I have also noticed an improvement in MPG. Don't know if this is due to the fact the tune is more suited to my style of driving or not.

I just want to say that I am impressed.

Not sure if this is urban myth or not, but I heard Ford intentionally left the SHO at this power level so it would be classified a family sedan still. Maybe someone else can chime on as whether this is true or not. If it is, it sure makes me happy, because I get to have a very fast car that's VERY affordable to insure.

the power level is also limited by the tranny being rated at a max of 350 torque,  That is why the same engine in the F150 420 torque

Yup, we need to get a 6F80 at a minimum shoehorned into the transverse config.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Issue with that is that you would loose the AWD.

Just another update. I have been driving my car with the LMS 91 Octane tune for about a week and I have seen 25.2 MPG on the trip  display where 80% of a trip was highway and the other 20% was city ( LA traffic anyone?).

I definitely see MPG gains over the stock tune.

So my question to other LMS customers, is did you see such gains?

I ab solutely love my LMS tune but I did not see any gas mileage increase. That's okay. I didn't buy it for that. :-)

Yes, that was my experience, say a mileage increase with the Stage 2 tune and again with the Stage 4+ tune. However, here in Pennsylvania with the winter blend gas, we lose about 3-4 miles per gallon.  Also, don't go by the computer as the true MPG.  The only way to do it is to figure from fill-up to fill-up the old fashioned way, dividing miles traveled by gallons used, you will find it to be different from the MPG display.  However, as others have pointed out, the longer you go WITHOUT resetting the MPG display the more accurate the display will become, so don't reset after each fill-up for a truer mileage figure.

I wish we had 2 mpg readouts, like we have 2 trip readouts.  Get the best of both worlds!

I think my open-road cruising mileage improved with the tune.  We drive from Minneapolis to Des Moines a few times per year to visit family.  That is about 250 miles of Interstate cruising and I think I picked up 1-2 MPG on that trip.  Under those conditions, I am rarely using any boost.

Around town or in my normal commute, I really can't see much difference.  That is likely because I am using the boost more under those conditions.  Additionally, the performance with a tune is so addictive, I probably use it more than before.
