Is there any way to remove the lower grill from my 2010 SHO without removing the bumper? I have reluctantly decided to add a front plate to my car (got a ticket) and I decided on a mount that will modify the lower grill rather than drill holes in the front of the bumper, but I need to remove the grill to mount the plate. Do I have to remove the bumper or is there some way to get this thing off? Any help is appreciated.
First you will need to have the car raised up enough to get fully under the front of car .
All you need to do is remove the plastic lower service ( the one you take off for oil changes ) access cover . Immediately in front there is a plastic piece that the lower air dam is attached to . It is held in place by a bunch of philips screws and push inserts and a bunch of 8mm bolts that screw into metal fastners , remove all of them including the two on the bottom of each wheel well.
The whole plastic piece with rubber air dam can then be removed .
Once it is out of the way you will have clear access to the lower grill .
If you are going to attach the plate bracket to the lower grill , I doubt you will need to remove it . It can be done but it is tight in there .
This how I put in my lower billet grill.
