Maybe someone has a good use for this? Probably still has lots of good parts. Someone posted this on a blog I frequent.

edit: upon further investigation, it looks like this thing wouldn't take much to be fixed up to proper working order.

Wonder if it is drivable? I would buy it for 3 grand and drive it like that.

Yeah, if it needs body panels, an alignment, maybe bearings and other odds and ends this is potentially a steal. I do however see some other auctions go much higher than what this one is at.

It's difficult, if not near impossible, to re-register / re-plate a vehicle once it's been tagged with a salvage certificate.

At least in Illinois.

THat auction has a looong way to go yet. Any of us would buy it for $3K but what about $10K or $12K?  I'm guessing that's where it will end up...

In AZ you just pay the fee for a "salvage" title... that title travels with the car forever.  The problem is there are people making complete wrecks look good... money changes hands and then folks find out it is a salvage title... For instance: I had an employee 7 or 8 years ago buy a 2003 Mustang convertible... she didn't even realize it had a salvage title.  She took it in to have a rattle diagnosed and found out that the body was not bolted to the frame!

Another problem is some cars that SHOULD have salvage titles don't have them and then some cars with very minor damage get slapped with a salvage title. Very unfortunate.

Very unfortunate to see ANY SHO in this condition.  Hope someone can do right by it.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

If I had the space for it, I'd be very tempted to snap this up if it goes for 10k-ish and fix it up. Buying online/blind is somewhat a risk, but there could be a huge reward with this one. I think i would first look into what fixed up cars with salvage titles are typically worth though, haha.

In Ohio, it's a $50.00 inspection fee at the local OSP garage.
