SHO CAR

What exactly does "Sport Mode" do in a 2013 SHO ???

slurppie

The SHO model is equipped with a sport mode which allows the driver
to reduce normal AdvanceTrac® system intervention and provide a more
spirited driving experience. To enter sport mode, press the stability
control button twice rapidly with the brakes applied. The message
appears in the information display that the system is now in sport mode.
Note: Sport mode is not intended to be used on public roadway

It feels as though throttle response is changed as long as transmission "personality" (holds gears on decel)

Sport mode (transmission)
S (Sport)
Moving the gearshift lever to S (Sport):
• Provides additional grade (engine) braking and extends lower gear
operation to enhance performance for uphill climbs, hilly terrain or
mountainous areas. This will increase engine RPM during engine
braking.
• Provides additional lower gear operation through the automatic
transmission shift strategy which reacts to vehicle inputs (vehicle
acceleration, accelerator pedal, brake pedal and vehicle speed).
• Gears are selected more quickly and at higher engine speeds.

in my 2013 PP SHO putting the shifter in "S" does it :)

from what I can tell it changes the transmission shifting more that anything. Initially is will still shift up / down on it's own in "S" mode except it wont shift into 6th gear unless you upshift to 6th with the paddle shifter. Once you touche the paddle shifters you will have to now manually change gears with the paddles to change gears. However it will downshift if you really press the throttle far enough but becasue its expecting you to do it with the paddle shifters it takes much longer for a downshift response. I think while in paddle shift mode it will still shift up if you hit the revlimiter so you practice shifting up with the paddle shifter before you hit the rev limiter. It's not an instaneous shift so you have to shift a tad early to avoid hitting the rev limiter. Also mine rev matches the rpms on downshifts so when you downshit the computer adjust the throttle / rpm so it doesn't engine brake, or slow you down unless you leave it like that too long eventually the rpms will drop and slow you down. Mine might feel a tad more peppy in "S" mode I can't really tell a huge difference.

Mine is a PP and it's tuned so with my traction control off I have reduced tranction control and with the advanced trac off by holding the brake and T/C button in for 8-10 seconds if turns the traction controll off completely I think.

When you drive in sport mode w/o touching the paddle shifter it's like being in drive until you touche the paddle shifter, so if you want to go back to auto shifting put it back in "D" and it will shift on it's own again. Then g back to "S" and dont touch the paddle shifter if you want it back in "S" mode but still auto shift. Basically that's how you go back and fourth between auto shift and paddle shifter shifting while driving. Unless you want to stay in paddle shift mode. If so then don't forget to shift lol

you can still shift with the paddle shifter in "D" of course but it will do what you want then go right back to auto shifting. So not much difference in going in to "S" mode other then the trans not shifting to 6th keeping you in more mid range hefty torque power more often. I like it if I want to zip around b/c then when you step on it you're going from 5-4 rather than 6-4 which takes a tad longer. But under thos conditions you probably driving in paddle shifter mode rolling in 4th anyway :) .... just more options. Took me awhile to figure this out I'm sure other have similar and different info / experiences.

Driving a manual shift is much easier lol

I have an very early version of LMS 4+ that gives my '10 non PP almost all of the characteristics described in the '13 Sport Mode. It was never acknowledged as such but was a rather pleasant un intended side effect.

Tell me more. Are they offering that as an option now?

I don't think so.  Dan just added some trans work to my tweaked tune based on the dynos I pulled when I was out there.  I'm still not sure what it does but besides a little firmer shifting, it is supposed to react a little differently when in M.  I know if I'm shutting down from over 50 and put it in M, it will drop a gear and then another.  That's about all I tested so far.  I need to talk to him again.  This should help the brakes slowing down from a run.  I am positive that now with the tweaks and weight loss I'll be turning 12's this spring,  (Not to mention down pipes.)!  Yeehaw!
