in my 2013 PP SHO putting the shifter in "S" does it

from what I can tell it changes the transmission shifting more that anything. Initially is will still shift up / down on it's own in "S" mode except it wont shift into 6th gear unless you upshift to 6th with the paddle shifter. Once you touche the paddle shifters you will have to now manually change gears with the paddles to change gears. However it will downshift if you really press the throttle far enough but becasue its expecting you to do it with the paddle shifters it takes much longer for a downshift response. I think while in paddle shift mode it will still shift up if you hit the revlimiter so you practice shifting up with the paddle shifter before you hit the rev limiter. It's not an instaneous shift so you have to shift a tad early to avoid hitting the rev limiter. Also mine rev matches the rpms on downshifts so when you downshit the computer adjust the throttle / rpm so it doesn't engine brake, or slow you down unless you leave it like that too long eventually the rpms will drop and slow you down. Mine might feel a tad more peppy in "S" mode I can't really tell a huge difference.
Mine is a PP and it's tuned so with my traction control off I have reduced tranction control and with the advanced trac off by holding the brake and T/C button in for 8-10 seconds if turns the traction controll off completely I think.
When you drive in sport mode w/o touching the paddle shifter it's like being in drive until you touche the paddle shifter, so if you want to go back to auto shifting put it back in "D" and it will shift on it's own again. Then g back to "S" and dont touch the paddle shifter if you want it back in "S" mode but still auto shift. Basically that's how you go back and fourth between auto shift and paddle shifter shifting while driving. Unless you want to stay in paddle shift mode. If so then don't forget to shift lol
you can still shift with the paddle shifter in "D" of course but it will do what you want then go right back to auto shifting. So not much difference in going in to "S" mode other then the trans not shifting to 6th keeping you in more mid range hefty torque power more often. I like it if I want to zip around b/c then when you step on it you're going from 5-4 rather than 6-4 which takes a tad longer. But under thos conditions you probably driving in paddle shifter mode rolling in 4th anyway

.... just more options. Took me awhile to figure this out I'm sure other have similar and different info / experiences.
Driving a manual shift is much easier lol
