Looks like we'll be seeing a new Taurus and MKS in CY 2015 as a 2016MY model. Expect it based on the new Fusion platform (CD4), with it being either widened or lengthened or even both of them. The big and so far only concret news so far is that the production of them is getting moved the Flat Rock, where the Mustang and just recently, Fusion have been built.
This didn't make any sense at first, but a plant worker stated when they redid the line in the plant for the Fusion (which was previously building Mazda 6's) Ford planned flexing in the Mustang on the same line (sneaky) and will tear out the Mustang production line next summer when the 2015 Mustang launches and retool that side of the plant for the Taurus and MKS.
No word on any engines or anything, but I'd expect a pretty good weight savings over the current D3 platform...which would be nice.
As far as I know, the current D3 Police Interceptor(current Taurus), Police Interceptor Utility and Explorer will still be built at Chicago for a while yet. I'd expect the Explorer to morph into 3 row Edge in a few years on a lengthened Fusion/Edge/future Taurus Platform. I'd also expect a Lincoln Explorer to replace the MKT, which is going away soon.
