Clunking over bumps

I have been noticing a more distinctive clunk or pop when I go over speed bumps or hit a bump in the road.  There is no definitive rhyme or reason when this happens.  The car has 50k on it, and I am the second owner, and had eibachs on it when I purchased from the dealer.  My guess is it is a control arm bushing as I can hear it down below my feet.  Any ideas on how to check for sure, as it visually looks fine.

I had a secondary clunk in my 1012 Limited on speed bumps.  Never found out what it was before I traded it.

Not a sound I would expect control arm bushings. It is sound I would expect to hear from strut mounts or engine cradle mounts. After a 2nd look when you say its sounds like its down low by your feet, makes me feel even stronger about it being engine cradle mounts. While haven't experienced that with my SHO I have in another car where it felt like something hitting the bottom of the car.

+1 for strut  mount. Could also be a sway bar bushing, but most likely strut mount since they were likely reused when the lowering springs were put on.

My H&R's are doing the same thing in the front -  67K.  Only happens on really harsh speed bumps.  I think it is struts or strut bushings.

I had the same sort of issue on my 2010 SHO.  Had the strut mounts replaced because the dealer said they looked damaged.  Didn't help and still have the clunk...

Front or back?.... Any concerns about CVJ's/U-joints in the axles?  I don't know what the engineering wheel travel is supposed to be.

My explorer had a clunk in the front end over bumps.  I thought it was something very serious.  Ended up being sway bar endlinks.

While I did have some noises on my front left suspension, it was more of a clunk, at all speeds. They replaced my strut, shock and strut mount. Sounds (or doesn't sound) fine now.

Front strut mounts. They didn't find any other issues.  I reported it to the dealer again during an oil change,  and they couldn't find anything again.

I bet you money it's your outer tie rod end links. Super easy to fix yourself. I've attached a link to a discussion about this from last summer. I had the same symptoms and the new end links solved all of my problems.
