I have been reading that Ford updated the spark plugs for the 13 model year SHO's.  The newer part number is a Motorcraft SP534 pregapped at .030.  I was curious being that my car was an early 13 build.  Car just turned 8000 miles.  Unfortunately, the gaps where all over the place from .032 to .038 so I'm glad I checked and replaced.  In addition, the plugs were not the newer SP534's.

Overall not a horrible job, but the rear closest to driver side is a major PITA.  Took me about 1.5 hours for the plugs and tightening some of the cold and hot pipes which where fairly untight.  Check your clamps guys and gals as they back off over time.

That is interesting.  Thanks for the report.  You are at least the second guy to report that the gaps were all over the place.

1st time took me 1.5 hours, I can do it in around 20 minutes now. :)
Air ratchet helps immensely! :)

The 13's plugs are rebadged NGK's.

What's the trick with the pipe running over the spark plug hole?  I loosened the clamp where it's connected, but it did not move much in addition to the bolt that holds it on top of the engine.  Phuckin Ford...

Taking off that hot pipe is about 5 minutes.  I just moved my new metal one to the side

If you have not changed/checked yours I would make that recommendation.  I kept the same heat range being that I'm tuned only.

One clamp on the turbo one over the engine.  8mm screw on the motor and then disconnect bov electrical connector

Just changed mine for the first time, was able to get them all switched out in about 30 minutes. I just removed the hot pipe nut on top of the intake and pushed it to the side to get my ratchet on the extension and out.

I must have a jumbo ratchet because that Beotch did not want to move much with the top nut off.  LOL
I do have rookie tools though.  That's my excuse...  ;)

Need to call SnapOn tomorrow to make a delivery.  LOL

Lol. I must admit my dad owned a shop while I was growing up so I've been wrenching on cars since I could pick up a wrench.

I forgot mention the coil packs pulled right out.  I'm sure the low miles helped that happen.  Garage queen.  Lol

Update:

I got a chance to drive the car today with the new plugs.  Car feels crisp with stronger low end torque.  At cold start up the car used to stumble and sound like it's loading up before settling into usual idle.  Now the starts up without the above symtoms.  This was probably due to the gaps being to large and inconsistent.  Feels like a new car.  I was frankly surprised this made this much difference.  FYI
