2011 SHO brakes - ordered

I just ordered EBC slotted front rotors and Red Stuff pads for the front of the SHO.  I have high hopes for gaining confidence in the brakes with these.  I have used EBC pads on prior cars and loved the bite.  I have also read of many members here going with this set up.  I just can't wait to not have warped rotors again.

I believe BPD Mike also uses EBC componentry.  So I would imagine they work well for the SHO.  Though he uses Yellow, not Red, I think.  Ford brakes, man, they are designed "weak"  :bangin: but luckily they are usually easily improved by a rotor/pad swap!

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Yep. Very happy with the improvement(s) achieved.

Yellow Stuff pads and the slotted rotors were the route I took.

I went through three sets of factory / OEM rotors (all under warranty tyvm thanks to my Service Dept. Pals at my Dealer).....

But once I clipped past that magical number on the odometer, and no longer was under warranty previsions, immediately I threw on the EBC's.

I really really REALLY want that BIG BRAKE UPGRADE from TCE though.... :x:

Soon enough i'll save uo the coin for those.

But you'll be quite pleased with the EBC upgrade(s)..... probably THE BEST option out there (outside of the Wilwood Kit from TCE).

Report back your experiences for sure!

Got exactly that setup on front & rear. A lot better than stock. Stops on a dime. Don't get lots of dust but strange part is more dust on back wheels than front, seems like it should be the opposite, but I'm definitely low tech.

So...part numbers? Source? Price? I am getting close to the 36k mark and am thinking new brakes this spring.....need to know how many pennies to save!!!!

Good Choice Don.  I had EBC slotted/dimpled w/ red stuff pads on my 09 Impala SS and they were stellar.  I am going with that set-up on the MKS when the time comes....or sooner.. :)

I have the exact same EBC brakes and rotors. Brakes are much improved over stock, and are holding up very well after nearly 2yrs. Not even rusting, just make sure you follow there break in procedure. Most people don't do, but is very critical to the function and longevity of the brakes.

AutoAnything often has special sales where you can save 10-15% off their low prices.  Even if the EBC's are excluded in the sale info, it pays to call them.  They will often honor the price on the phone.

I have Stop Tech fronts but they do create dust.  Had EBC reds ordered but after 3 mo, order got cancelled due to availability issues.  Stop Tech are about worn out after 30,000+ miles.  Not sure which way I will go next time.

I went through www.shopebcbrakes.com and here are the part numbers.
Rotors USR7510     $340.31
Pad     DP31767C   $91.46

They had a coupon code of ebc70 for $70 off orders over $400.  Total came to $431.77 with free shipping and then took the $70 off for an out the door price of $361.77.

Not a bad price in my opinion.

Anyone have any experience with stoptech slotted rotors / EBC Redstuff or Yellowstuff pads? Do the pads play well with the stoptech rotors (as opposed to EBC slotted rotors)?

I truly believe that anything is an upgrade from the Ford brakes. I didn't go with the EBC set up, but I am still very pleased and almost shocked at the improved stopping power of my aftermarket setup.

Got the brakes yesterday and got the time to install them today. I can't wait to get past the bed in time so I can find out how much they are improved.  I did a few 30-10 light braking and a few 60-10 light braking and will be taking it easy for the near future. We are off for a trip to Winchester VA this weekend. It will be nice to see what type of MPG I get on the trip and will give me plenty of time to bed the brakes in. About 1,200 miles round trip starting Friday after work and back home Sunday night with my 10 month old son. Not really looking forward to the trip.
