Problem for me is I'm in Jersey. I have two good shops I can use for install....
But neither have a 4wheel dyno. Does anyone know a good tune with 4wheel dyno in jersey or very close?
Like a Saturday trip?

As I try to gauge the overall cost of this upgrade, how many hours did your installer have dedicated to the turbo swap?

Good question. I too had similar questions.

I had asked about this myself, because I needed to know how much to allocate towards the costs of install.

"Book time" I believe calls for 10hrs of labor time total IIRC.

I think that involved dropping the cradle though.

My pal only dropped the rear sub-frame to access the rear turbo.

He did not drop the entire cradle, as it was unnecessary to do so, as the front turbo swap was fairly easy.

The rear however proved to be a little more work.

I would imagine most shops will likely quote between 10-12hrs of labor.

I can't provide hourly rates, as that obviously is going to be an even larger range, with so many factors applying.

Check with whoever you intend on doing the work (in your area) for that.

I have buddy/neighbor/mechanic that does all the work for me on my cars. He always treats me good on the time and I just want to see if I schedule this that it can be done in a single day. I thought I remember it being stated that the turbo swap took 10-12 hours. Did your installer come in under that?

I would also love to know what type of total Whp the xsport would have after a turbo swap like this.
LMS says their Xsport was over 400 with similar mods I have now...
And If I read correctly, the post said the turbos swap added 200-250 hp.....

The stock fuel delivery system will not support the added HP levels. You need a custom solution for more fuel at this time and point to get that additional 200-250 HP.

I believe he did. But am not positive.

I know he got started fairly late Monday afternoon, and I picked up the car around Noon on Wednesday.

He is the owner of his shop, and as such, still gets side-tracked by either his fellow minions he employs, or by other customers either calling in and asking to speak to him, or stopping by the shop.

Not to mention, I had him doing a couple of other things besides just this swap alone.

I suppose it's possible to complete this in one (actual) full day, w/o interruptions.

But friend of yours, or not, I would say that's a tremendous amount of pressure to place upon any mechanic.

Especially knowing that unforeseen obstacles do tend to creep up.

You'd be better served, by preparing for a 2 day job from beginning to end.

Ok
So is some type of upgraded fuel system mandatory with the turbo swap or only if you want the 200-250?

Sorry.. I got too many questions...

An upgraded turbo does not require an upgraded fuel system, but I think it is safe to say that it will not gain you 200-250 HP otherwise.

Thx
In ur opinion, what type of hp gain might you see without the fuel system?

Solution could entail the route 4DR's headed with the E85, or in my case, supplementing with the 100% Methanol.

There are pro's / con's to both, and that's been discussed to some depth in other threads (where it should remain to keep those, and this thread intact as far future searches for information, etc.).

Suffice to say, I wonder what happened with that HPFP upgrade thread? :hmmm:

Also, it'd be nice to see a vendor undertake an upgrade to the factory injectors, as I know 4DR's custom fab'd his own intake with an auxiliary / 2nd set of injectors separate from the OEM setup.

They will fit, you will make more HP on stock fueling but I highly suggest at least meth injection to supplement. You'd probably pick up around 50HP on these with a tune as compared to stock turbos just due to the increased CFM and cooler temps at same boost levels compared to stock turbos. I'd love to see someone throw an upgraded single fuel pump in the tank, I really think that will make a huge difference for additional flow. You might even be able to mix E85 to gain some more HP. You can go the dual in tank fuel pumps that I offer (not on my site) but the install is a bear and includes new -6 lines being ran, cutting stock fuel pump harness etc. Not for the weak of heart BUT I was able to fuel my old turbo setup at 23psi with 50/50 E85 mix on stock DI system.

Someone is working on both injector and HPFP upgrades.  Supposed to be about a 30% increase in capacity.  It will also require upgraded LPFP.  Should know more once SEMA starts.
