I'm planning on swapping out the stat for a 170 degree, what else would I need to do as far as my LMS 4+ tune? Or do I not need to do anything at all?  I've read that the fan settings are modified. Is that optional, advisable or mandatory.

You don't have to do anything.  But, getting the fans to turn on earlier will make the most of the stat.

LMS should turn that on for you for free.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Just let LMS know, they will change your fans to come on earlier. Of course you have the wait time for that. It is advisable, or else why get the T-Stat.

OK I think I get it. The fans are set to come on so the engine won't overrun the preset stat temp by too much. New lower temp stat needs a new lower high temp limit setting. Makes sense. Thanks guys!

New question. Anthony asked for my strategy code and serial number in order to send me modified tune files and I plugged in MYCAL and went to car info and got an error message. I followed directions and I'm sure I did this before with no error message. This bothers me a lot. Error message was a license error. Does this make sense to anyone. Suggestions??

Did you press and hold start button until gauges sweep?

Great suggestion. I remember to do that when I'm flashing a tune but I forgot to do it just for getting the info. I'll go out and try it right now. Thanks for straightening me out Crash

Glad you got it Larry!

Me too. I was starting to worry about the reliability of the device my stock tune was residing on. Not a good thing. All better now!

Now might be a good time to remove the SD media card and copy it to another device for safe keeping of your stock tune

That's a great suggestion. I'm gonna do that right away. I have all the LMS tune files residing in a folder on my desktop and backed up to an external drive, but I never thought to back up the stock tune file. Major OOPS!  Great to have so many eyes looking over my shoulder. I hope I'm not the only one who did not think of that!  Thanks Motohead
