Another justification for my downpipes and cat back...
On a serious note... If you have a 11-13 explorer, be careful and check it out..

X2 on that...

I doubt if there is an exhaust leak.... That would be a nasty audible sound ... So how is it getting in the car?... What are the outside car readings?

I think it's a hit and miss issue. I've never smelled anything.

There was a thread here regarding getting this issue on the SHO a few months back. I get a foul aroma every single time I accelerate heavily beyond 80 mph.

What ford should have done was buy back the explorer asap. Then they could test that vehicle and figure out what it is. Instead of letting dealerships try to find it. One thing you dont hesitate on is safety. Now they are in the wrong.

Can anyone give me a reference link to the exact testing that was paraphrased above by the OP.  Not doubting anyone....Not judging anything. Just want the unedited facts.... Just want to see it so I can form an opinion rather than speculate....would like to know what Ford actually did.   I'm not siding with either side, but innocent 'til proven guilty I believe.

Which motor?  I would think the exhaust is different between the 4cyl, 3.5 N/A, and 3.5EB.

The part they are replacing to "solve" the issue is generally located on the side in the rear of the vehicle. This tells me exhaust is exiting out the tailpipe and being sucked into the vehicle. Could be a wind flow design problem or the exhaust just isn't being directed out past the end of the vehicle far enough and getting trapped up on the inside underneath the vehicle.
