Colorado-SHOBro

Finally made it out to the track last night.
Facts:
AJP E30 tune(with a bit of 100octane) @16psi/SP542 plugs @.028/170 TSTAT/ wastegate mod/ AEM paper filter
Bandimere speedway in Morrison,CO. Elevation 5800ft.
DA7200-7700 all night.
Car# 272
First 3 runs i pretty much hot-lapped
Run 1
13.211@106.56  2.069 60ft

Run 2
13.174@105.90 1.99 60ft

Run 3
13.192@105.73  1.989 60ft

IAT's were starting to climb so i gave it a good cool down cycle for about an hour while i talked with a few other SHOwners that were there.

Run 4
13.082@105.89  1.936 60ft
PB and oh so close to 12's!!

Run 5
13.158@106.04  2.003 60ft

Run 6 and the last of the night
13.141@106.55  2.016 60ft

And the vids:

My dad came out with his stock 16' C7 Stingray and we got a couple runs in together. The SHO put it to shame by a landslide. albeit driver mod was more than needed LOL- don't rag on him too hard. He hasn't drag raced in 15+ years and the car actually popped out of 1st coming out of the hole here.

Overall i was ecstatic with the results and consistency of the car. Shifted smooth as hell and never missed a beat all night.
Huge shout out to Brad for putting in some extensive work on this tune and really showing what these cars can do up here. A 4650lb sedan that can almost turn 12's in 7500DA is nothing to F#ck with!!

I'll update with logs and some other info later.
If SHOdded can use his magic mojo to make the pics bigger that would be rad!

Sorry photobucket sucks and will only let you do thumbnails now :(

A couple other pieces of information i wanted to include here.
First, logs attached. 3 runs on the first log- you can see the heat soak starting to set in.
Run 4 on separate log and last 2 runs on a log together.

The thing i'd like everyone to take notice on these logs . . . IAT2 temps.
Waiting for the gates to open i ran 1 fan for about 40 minutes and literally never turned it off all night. Pulled in tech'd out and went straight for the strip and IAT2 at the start of the first pass was 114.
Hot lapped for 2nd pass(had to stop and get a helmet after lecture from ticket window) and IAT2 had climbed to 125. start of 3rd run it was 132.
Time to cool down. Let the fan run with hood open for about an hour before hopping back in the lanes. IAT2 came down to 91*!!! for the start of my 4th and best run. I actually had to start the car early in the staging lanes to make sure the heads and coolant were up to temp by the time i got to race.
After 4th run the staging lanes started to get crowded so i looped back and hopped in line and had ~40minutes of cool down time in the lanes. IAT2 for the last 2 runs was starting under 100*
Highest IAT i saw period was 155 after the end of my 3rd hot-lapped run.

FOR ANYONE PLANNING ON DRAG RACING YOUR SHO . . . . . YOU NEED TO INSTALL A MANUAL FAN SWITCH
It seriously works.

In between runs i was talking to the other SHO guys there and one guy said at the start of his 1st run his IAT2 was starting at 150*.   He has DP's, cat-back, upgraded gearhead turbos and ran a 13.3 that run.

I could feel a major difference in temperature when touching my manifold and any others.
I feel it was a major contributor to how consistent the car performed.

So which setup did you go with fir your fan setup?  I have seen a few ways here, be nice to tie your setup to the awesome results in a single thread.

other way to do it is to tap your black fan wire and hot wire it directly to the negative battery terminal. i actually did this to the other fan in case i wanted to run both at the same time.

1 fan was sufficient enough though and doesn't risk killing the battery

There were 3 other SHO's out that night and here's how they faired just in case anybody has any doubt about AJP's incredible tuning ability.
least to most mods:
Yours truly. 13.085@105.89
10' SHO w/Unleashed E30 tune. Catless PPE downpipes, H&R springs, MSD coils, larger throttle body. ran consistent 13.3's all night and finally bested w/ a 13.177@101mph? not sure what happened with trap speed.
15' SHO w/gearhead tune & upgraded turbos. downpipes+catback+MSD coils. 275 nitto555 tires@22psi also. best i saw was 12.9@105.XX. He kept remarking on how his traps weren't as high as mine.
15' SHO w/gearhead tune, upgraded turbos and 50/50 water/meth. Only saw him run a couple times and he clocked a 13.3 and 12.9 and i heard his times were all over the place. His PB so far in @ a different track w/ 5500ft DA is 12.8@111.

Choose your tuner wisely folks!

Pops was gracious enough to send me his dashcam video of him getting smoked. So this is what it looks like to loose to a SHO in your corvette.

I will say that your tune is pretty mature and you are pretty particular about your car which is all good. I'm a little surprised that you hung with the upgraded turbo cars but that just goes to show the benefits of spark tuning and high octane fuel and I'm guessing you are no stranger to drag racing and you were optimizing temp control with your fans.

I want to also point out that if I did not do my own tuning I would personally use Gearhead Automotive for tuning for the SHO and diesels. I know him personally and he is a good person that runs a sound company and he is highly sophisticated and technical. Only good things from Gearhead. He has a thorough knowledge of SCT and HP tuners and others as well.

But great job SHO-Bro you did me proud!

oh no brad, you did me proud my friend. can't thank you enough for  being a master of your craft and being forthcoming with your expansive knowledge of the platform. hope others in the community recognize how lucky we are to have you here.
Agreed about gearhead and matt. i've talked with him about a few different subjects and have an overall good impression. he has mentioned that he knows you. if  you weren't around i'd either be looking to do it myself or going to him for tuning. that being said his tunes seem to be on the conservative side and definetly leave something to be desired at the track. not that that's all together a bad thing in the long run. just safe.

I'm going to look into that fan switch, last time I was at the track my iats were 150+. I also have ajp e30 tune. Only 14psi though. I think 12.3 is capable with good air. My da is much lower than yours, around 1000. Great runs!!
