Hey guys/gals. My name is Everette and I am in the process of parting out my 2009 Mazdaspeed3 with ambitions to trade it in and get a 2011-2012 white SHO. I know a little about direct injection turbo setups but I am sure there is much different across platforms. In short I am here to learn as much as I can and contribute to the community as my knowledge increases.
I have had my mazda for 3.5 years (bought it new) and I am very much going to miss rowing through the gears, torque steer, and that dark cloud of smoke that came out of it when I went WOT after not having done so for a while ;D. I put a lot of work into it over the years. It was fully bolted (every mod under the sun, but stock turbo) and tuned by one of the platforms gurus on meth and e85. I just recently did a coilover setup for it but I am growing out of he car for sure. I want something more comfortable and mature. Im applying for jobs here and there and I dont think Im being taken super seriously showing up with my red hatch with gold wheels... Lol.
Other vehicles have been an 07 civic si, 09 focus se, 03 hayabusa, 05 civic dx, 79 volvo 244dl, and 92 nissan 240sx.
If it lets you know the type of person I am, I am already trying to figure out the best way to install my current meth kit into a sho and where is best to have the controller set to come on, without even having the damn car. Lol.
Once I get it I plan on getting the package from livernois with the tuner, downpipes, thermostat and intake. Later after that ill look into the exhaust and meth setups and figuring out how to get an oil catch can on it.
Anyways I have a lot of reading to do here. Look forward to chatting with all of you!
Welcome! Glad to see another mazdaspeed guy here, I was a crazy man and did the 2nd BT upgrade on the MS6 when they first came out, lasted about 6 weeks before I threw a rod through the motor. :)
These cars are way more resilient and responsive to upgrades than my MS6 back then, today it's a different story with actual tuning available for the MS6/3 and E85 fueling.
Welcome!
Welcome :hi:
Glad to have 'ya here :ok:
Be sure to check out some of the Meth Install How-To's for more info and research into what options are available for your own application!
Hopefully your SHO will arrive sooner, rather than later.
But until then, thanks for registering, please pass the word along to any fellow ECO owners you may know (about EBPF) or may know who are interested in the platform overall.

Its very relieving to see a performance community for this car! I was over at ecoboostownersforum and thought "oh boy, this is going to be a tough road to travel". Im not expecting anything like MSF but it sure is nice to have some references. Yeah the mzr platform is way beyond the map clamp days! Finally some options for some decent fueling too. But I just cant wrap my head around having 400+ hp in a fwd car.
Im glad to hear these motors are pretty stout too

Thanks I will be checking into the How-To's for sure.

Welcome! Good luck in your search for "the" SHO.
Welcome to our baby(Mazda) brother from your BIG (Ford) brother We are all one BIG family!!!LOL
good luck in your SHO hunt. when US cars where not so good & I did imports Mazda's where mainly my choice. the one that almost literally blew me away was the predecessor to the 626, the MX-6, Had an 89 2dr GT w/ 2.0L turbo. That car was something. Problems not many unless your used the turbo. tourq delay lots, torq steer like you wouldn't believe, if wheels weren't straight when you hit the turbo, you had no idea where it was going, but what a fun car. After that got back into nothing but US's. anyway good luck on your hunt & the knowledge on this site is mind blowing.
Thanks guys. I see a lot of price variation across the model years and I'm thinking a 2011 is going to be the newest I can spring for within my budget. Are there any major differences between the 2010 and 2011? I usually don't like buying the first year of a car.... But if it's the same thing and I can get one below 50k miles I am open minded to it.

I would look for car with least amount of abuse and lots of service records. Preferably a garaged car.
I just came from a bolt on SRT8 Caliber and I'm very familiar tuning map clamps. LOL Pain in the ass, but once their set right look out. I ran a little mix E85 on 94 pump. Ripper.
Good luck. These cars really get it out of the hole with a tune plus.

Well I picked up a 2011 silver non pp sho on Friday. I'll have some pics up soon once I have made a couple aesthetic enhancements. So far I've got an air raid and some springs and tint. Can't wait to get a tune!
