How is everyone doing! I cant even begin to tell everyone how much help this forum has been since I have purchased my 2014 Lincoln MKS Ecoboost in October. My name is Cody and I live in South Central PA, Lancaster County. I am a Fleet Account Executive for a Ford and Chevrolet dealership and have been selling Ford Police Interceptors, trucks, and everything else! I have grown to love the Ecoboost MKS and the Ecoboost line of engines throughout the years. I have the benefit of working alongside some master certified techs and a great parts department. I recently purchased the LMS performace package with CAI, T-STAT, Precision Gapped Plugs, 3 Bar Map, and the MyCal tuner. I am anxiously awaiting my tune to arrive from Livernois tomorrow. Did the plugs, CAI, and T-stat this evening. Going to do a full BG tranny flush, fresh oil change, and 3 Bar Map before loading the tune tomorrow after work. Cant begin to say how stoked I am. Felt my car was pretty quick to begin with but I am hearing that I will be blown away by this tune. I look forward to learning and chatting with all of you regarding our awesome cars! Feel free to reach out anytime! Have a good evening folks! I was deciding between your tune and LMS. I hear you're the two best around! Am I right that after doing the flush tomorrow, I should overfill PTU by a pint?
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Transmission, not PTU. I would advise overfilling only if you experience issues, but apparently it does not do any harm anyway. So feel free :D
Welcome to EBPF, Cody, and glad to have another MKS owner amongst us! Let us know how the tune & parts work out for you, initial and ongoing evaluations are always welcome!

Thank you for the warm welcome. Will report back tomorrow with first test drive experience! 10-4 on the trans fluid. Since the photos, I've tinted the windows 35 all around. Any ideas for the ugly ecoboost engine cover and the notorious clear peeling a little on 2 of the wheels? Will be removing pinstripe in spring, doing a full buff, and will top it off with simoniz glasscoat. Thanks again for the welcome and advice!

Hydrodipping or hightemp paint are probably the best options for the cover, unless you want to go real CF like bpd did. Wraps prob won't work for long.
Peeling clearcoat - usually has to be polished/sanded down and repainted. You could choose to hydrodip or wrap the wheels also.
Welcome aboard the E.B.P.F Cody! How miles on the MKS?
Glad to have you and your MKS on board! Thanks for joining! Z :WELCOME:
i tried painting it with high temp paint my first attempt as was turning my sho into a show car & turned out ok but manu is right the best way is hydrodipping. here is a pic of mine after the hydro work that i show. the light when i took the pic made the red look like just red but really red/black cf look. i did the cover, all the lids, & the fascia, although did fascia in black cf look, pic enclosed, still showing her up to almost 50 trophies, plaques or ribbons. including 1 best non-mustang ford 1975 to present in stl. not in bpd's class but whose is.

I love the look of that. My car is the dark brown so I think I'd like the carbon fiber look on it. Did yoy hydro dip yourself with a kit or did you pay someone? Thanks for the tips sir!

had pros do it, dipping is an art. under the hood is a good place to dip as is well protected. the problem is if you get a bad spot say a rock hits, it's really tough to disguise flaw. i did my dip in '13, so has held up well. i did paint the hood liner, that was a monstrous job as that material absorbs the paint, but once i got it done, it kind of hardened & has stayed fine. manu by the way i think one of those new edge st's has your name on it!!!
Ha ha. I'd rather come over one dark night and steal away with your SHO, Mike! The ST is too tame for me, but maybe one day Ford will add a real engine to it.
Greetings from Nebraska, interesting that you deal in PI cars. I understand that PI Taurus is popular in PA.
Do you sell a lot of Eco-boost equipped PI cars?
I see a lot of the Taurus and Explorer PI cars around here are not EB equipped. Probably a cost savings.

Believe it or not, 90% of my departments are going to Interceptor Utilities (Explorers) and the EcoBoost isnt very popular whatsoever due to the $3200 option cost. Most departments would rather spend the extra cash on lights, cameras, etc. State Police still purchase around 125 Taurus' a year from me but the vast majority are Utilities. It is quite a fun industry to be in with the fleet and government side.

Kinda bumming here! LMS had a power outage today and couldnt get my tune file to me:( it is 60 and dry here today and was stoked to get it out for a nice test drive after the tune. Supposedly they are having the tune guy go in tomorrow due to a lot of folks not getting their tunes timely. Problem is....tomorrow is supposed to be 25 degrees and snowy. BLAH! Not the kind of weather I was excited to unleash the beast with!

:o. This flaky weather is too much at times. Stocked up on milk eggs, TP?
Lol i lived in Erie PA americas snowiest city for 5 years through undergraduate. So they sent the tune, now the updater software cant connect to the update URL to update it. They said keep trying but ive been clicking retry for literally an hour now! Wife is trying to yank me to the store but i want the tune in first!

:( They'll make it up to you, I'm sure.
Got the tune in and loving it. Just drove around for about 300 miles very mildly to get the trans to learn the new adapt a little bit and then started to have a little fun! I did however have a scary issue. On a rolling start at about 5 mph, I went WOT and when it went to shift into second, it got caught in between gears. It acted almost as though it slipped into neutral but had a slight grind noise to it, not terrible, but the last thing i wanted to hear. Shifted to drive, continued to ride around and tried same scenario again, didnt miss gears at all. Shifted a little hard but thats to be expected to some degree. I wouldnt call it violent by any sense of the word. Just a little worrisome and im curious if anyone has had that happen before. Thank you guys!

Also, i was in Sport mode when it happened...figured I'd clarify

It can take a while for the PCM to learn your driving style, sometimes a 100 miles or more ...
Aside from that, tires and old transmission fluid are at the top of the list. Then the PTU.
I would give it a couple of days of normal driving, check all fluids, then give er heck :)

I gotta say your post was reassuring. I might add, they are pretty new tires, did a full tranny flush before install of the tune. Is it doing damage when it gets in between gears like that? Its still under warranty and I work for a Ford dealership so worst comes to worse, something would need replaced. Have you heard of anyones getting in between gears like that?

If the issue is mechanical, yes it could be damaging. The odds are against mechanical damage at this mileage tho.
You might want to pull and verify (or change) spark plugs. Clean both MAP sensors with MAF cleaner.

I bought the whole kit from LMS plugs, CAI, 3 bar map, tstat, and tuner. Did fresh oil change and flush. I did check for any DTC's after and I didnt have any. Didnt smell anything weird either. I'll drive it for awhile and see if the problem eventually remedies. 🤞

I recall when I first installed my freshly new tune for the first time that the first handful of WOT 1-2 shifts were VERY Harsh! They eased up gradually in time and is fine as can be but that was in Desired Drive mode! Not Sport mode FWIW! Z

Did it ever seem to miss a shift? Weirdd stuff.

IMHO Don't recall! this was roughly four years ago!
Note - The vehicle should be running @ its optimum level before installing a new Tune with fresh fluids and all as mentioned by others.
I wouldn't hesitate to email them @ tuning@livernoismotorsports.com or info@livernoismotorsports.com for any such inquiries. Z

Agreed. I did a full oil change, and transflush the day before tune.

mine a few years back, manu probably remembers had a shift problem of down shifting were would go into limp mode for a few seconds. dealers 2nd attempt was to run a tsb, 1st basically ignored me. thank goodness for the tsb update as made the problem so i could make it happen. turned out after much going back & forth between ford & dealer was they replaced the 2 sensors in the tranny. has been fine since. but was scared to take it to the max lms tune for older 10-12's of 4x as shifting was known to be stiffer so just took her to the 4+ & no issues
