I just got in the mail my pad and rotor kit from EBC. Went with USR rotors and Red Stuff pads. With the Red Stuff pads the backplate of the pad is actually bright red, which is awesome. EBC includes a set of shims and hardware. Those are not red though... My question is "Is it safe to paint the shims red, using caliper paint?" Particularly the shims for the front pads. I'm going to paint the calipers red, and seeing the unpainted shims through the caliper would bug me.
Painting the shims shouldn't do any harm but maybe best to only paint it after you have installed it most shims can be a pain with no paint and probably destroy the coating trying to install them.
