Title: New member from Ontario Canada.
Post by: WillB on December 03, 2017, 02:33:46 PM
Hi,

Just joined, after being a lifelong GM owner I will be joining the Ford camp.  I recently test drove a 2016 F150 SCrew, fell in love.

But after more research, think I want a 2.7 EB.

Will do a new thread.

Thanks,

Will

Welcome and thanks for joining ...so what is making you lean towards the 2.7?

It is a strong motor...i recently tuned a 2.7 f150 and turned 366whp and 465wtq on e30 fuel

Thanks guys.

The 2.7EB has more HP and torque than my 04 5.3 had, and waaay more than my current 4.8 - and glad Ford does not use AFM.
The CGI block, water cooled exhaust manifolds and the empty mpg really attract me. 50 mph/32 mph  speed limits should give excellent mpg.  I only tow 7,000 pounds once or twice a year, so I think this will be a good fit for me.

What do y'all think?

What is AFM?
GM's Active Fuel Management, also called Displacement on demand.  Nothing more than a gimmick, oil guzzler eventually.

Looks like 7K is within capacity per Ford for the 2.7

Welcome aboard the E.B.P.F WillB! Glad to have you on board. Z  :WELCOME:
I'm hoping you can get a good deal and incentives on a 17 2.7 ecoboost.

Welcome WillB, I agree about the DOD on GM trucks!
My wife has a 2007 Suburban that has always used oil and not gotten much better mileage than any other Suburban we had in the past. Recently her DOD parts in the valley pan failed and we were faced with finding a used engine, a crate motor, or fixing what we had. $2800 later we have a fixed engine that still uses oil. She is thinking about an Explorer!
But I do love my GMC 3500, LBZ duramax!!
