Title: Murphy's law. Camera blues...literally.
Post by: Vortech347 on August 04, 2017, 04:01:47 PM
Noticed on my SHO two nights that the image on the reverse camera was blue fuzz.   Other times it works fine.  I called Ford to make an appointment and my CPO warranty expired on July 31st.  I called Ford's 800 number and they too told me I was SOL.

New camera is 350+.   Why is it so expensive?  You can buy a freakin generic camera off ebay for $20.   It's not like it's a 4k Gopro.

DAMN IT!!!!  These cars have horrible rear visibility and I pretty much have to rely on a camera.

Sorry to hear.  It is possible there are other cheaper cameras that are the same form factor, but simply won't be able to calibrate.  So you will get 95% of the functionality right out of the gate.

I would try checking the connections first, may simply need cleaning & greasing.

o.   Part #   Description   List Price   Price
1   EG1Z-19G490-A   Rear Camera
REAR VIEW CAMERA, ALL
$476.57   $328.83

Not sure this will work but try a Gen 4.1 camera as found in this listing?

Such bull$H!T though.  I'm not blowing $300+ for a $20 camera.   For that much I'll buy a cheap Ebay one and see if I can splice it in and use a license plate frame mounted one.

Believe me, I empathize.  This is a huge problem particularly on the 2011 Edge.  All pI would say the electronics would need to be compatible.  Generic might or might not be compatible but  ...  Fingers crossed!

Sorry a bit late to the game but had mine replaced under warranty a while back and all to familiar with the process.
The correct part number is EG1Z-19G490-A and truly understand the part is way over the top as pricing goes and couldnt agree with you more.

I emphasize that part number EA5T-19G490-AA  might fit in your case because they surely look identical IMHO considering the circumstances.
I think you may need to get it calibrated with IDS.IIRC. Z

Haven't swapped it yet.  I got pissed and smacked it with my hand and it's been working right ever since...

I have that alternative PN saved and will try it when the time comes.
