Title: 2011 F150 air noise - turbo spool ?
Post by: Call_me_Troy on June 18, 2017, 06:57:07 PM
My 2011 F150 Platinum now has 97k and a new issue. A "moan" like an air disturbance around 1800 RPMs if I'm accelerating quickly. If driving slowly it won't happen just when I mash on it so my guess is turbo noise.

After noticing a dirty air filter, I installed a new one and the noise quieted but only slightly. Is there any know issue with blow offs or intake tubing that may cause this?

Not really familiar with the F150 setup, but does sound boost related.  You have performed a check of the intercooler and all I take it, no condensate/crud pooling in there?  I would definitely check the wastegastes (springs & diaphragms), and if you are not the original owner, maybe someone has performed the BOV mod?

Also, welcome to EBPF!
