I took my car in today to look at a leak I noticed on my engine, they took the plastic cover off underneath the car and found it to be full of oil! Apparently my PTU has been vomiting gear oil, and in addition, my rear turbo oil in/out pipes are leaking. In theory, all this should be covered by my powertrain warranty (I hope, cause I'm a broke young adult!).
Guess I'm glad I took it in because I saw a small oil stain!
I find it strange that I never got any warning lights, poor driving conditions, or any indication whatsoever that something was wrong. Not even a drop of oil made it onto my driveway or anything.
Well, might as well go for the whole enchilada :) Sounds like powertrain warranty eligible stuff to me. I suppose the engineers did not expect this to happen and that the turbos and PTUs would last forever and forever and ...
Both of my turbos were leaking at one point. Changed the the return lines and they were still leaking. About a week later, I changed the supply lines and they haven't leaked since. Front turbo lines are easy, but the rear turbo supply line is a real pain in the ass to get to. It's doable, but not fun getting to the banjo bolt on the supply line. Ford apparently thought it was a good idea to hide it under the exhaust manifold.
The actual turbos are covered under the powertrain warranty, but not 100% sure about the supply and return lines. I'd hope they'd see it all as one unit.

I'm technically under a non-OEM warranty, and although I don't have the paperwork in front of me, I believe it's All covered. I'll find out tomorrow when the shop calls the warranty company!
I'm not sure if I'm happy or not that the turbos aren't blown. I'm glad they're not broken, but it would be nice peace of mind to have 2 new ones under warranty!
