Keep in mind that i do about 50k miles a year (yeah, i drive a lot).
I do a brake flush and coolant flush every 2 years.
Spark plugs, trans 3x drain and fill, rear differential annually.
PTU fluid change every 20k miles. Same for air filter and cabin air filter.
Oil change every 5k miles with mobil 1.
No power steering fluid in these cars. It's electric steering in the MKS, i'd assume it's the same for all the ecoboost cars.
Am i missing anything?
Seeing as how there is interest in learning the whys and hows of upkeeping our rides of choice, I have started this thread hoping for contributions from everyone :) Even wash & wax routines are welcome, but the focus is on things that affect driving performance. Please limit discussions to the topic at hand, and thanks in advance!
I drive around 15k a year and my car sits at around 39k right now
oil changes every 5k with PUP 5w30 and Ford filter
PTU serviced at 30k and plan to do it every 30k, I used MC this time but next time will be amsoil
RDU serviced same time as PTU with same schedule, I used Max but will use Amsoil next time
I plan to do a coolant change at 50k
Brake fluid not sure yet
Surprisingly my brake are still good at 40k and stock but will upgrade to the PI pads when needed
When I was in search of my XSport, I found a blank Ford CPO checklist on the interwebs (attached) that I took with me when I went to look at potential purchases.
It's pretty comprehensive, and this seems like an appropriate thread to attach said document.
Outside of normal service, I would imagine running through this checklist on an annual basis (for most people) would catch a majority of pending issues before they become bigger problems.
