Title: Final test and tune at Gateway Motorsports Park tonight
Post by: J_C on October 27, 2016, 09:31:25 AM
I'm heading down one last time to get some passes in before the track closes for the year. The air will be great and hoping to better my 12.2 from my previous trip. Anyone else planning to go?

Haha.. Obviously that is the goal but if I come up short it's understandable. I know of only one guy that hit 11.9x without the aid of meth or upgraded turbos.

Do you have race gas available at the park?  Maybe that and/or E will do it ;)

Very true.

11's have proven quite elusive for the platform, since SHO's were re-introduced back in 2010.

In fact with that recent edition to the 11's club, only 6 known to date that have crossed over into that realm.

A small group for sure. Maybe you can be the 7th.

May the wind be at your back, and the track well prepped!

I think within a years time the Ecoboost platform has certainly evolved into an Ecobeast with overall better tuning capabilities in supporting E85 and racegas has proven to be sufficient in overall gains without the need for meth injection which can be some what costly, sorry for being a bit off topic. I'll be running my e30 mix along with a can of Torco to a half tank of fuel. I plan to log this combination for Torrie before making my way to the track

I sure hope so as I said above but if it doesn't happen tonight maybe sometime next season. I'm worried about traction being an issue with the cooler temps. Hopefully with it being the last test and tune the track prep is decent

Oh I agree completely! I was strongly considering meth until all the recent problems    I began hearing about. The e30 mix has been pretty good on my car so I'll stick to it for now

Recent problems with Meth?

Hmmmm.... other than the developments with Snow Performance and their craptastic product line(s) & lack of warranty/customer support, post sale.....

What else has (allegedly) come up?

Yeah, snow performance reputation has been pretty poor lately which steered me away at the time. Also most meth kits share the same pump as snow so it's not just their company but they seem to be shady with warranty work

My car could go 11's if I start taking stuff out... I don't really consider that a daily driver once you start taking extra stuff like seats out to accomplish an 11 second pass.. I should have went to the track last night.. da was -800 with high 40's temps..

I have a 13 month old daughter so I'm also used to going to bed at 9:30ish so I'll be dragging ass tomorrow..lol. I've seen that car numerous times at the track actually. It's clean as hell and obviously ridiculous fast!

My 12.2 was with DA around 600ft so you should be going if it's that far into the negatives! With air that good a lot cam be gained!

It was Wednesday night, I missed it... I get up at 4am to be at work at 4:30 so Wednesday nights would be hard for me. My kids are 2 and 5 so they are better sleepers than they used to be so that's not an issue

I figured I would update you guys on my track visit thursday. I struggled with traction and had wheel hop on the 1-2 shift but still managed a new pb!

Is your car PP or not? Advance-trac/traction all the way off when you launch? Do you break boost? If so, what RPM? Thats a pretty nice 60'

Yes, it is a performance pack. I only turn off traction control because wheel hop hasn't been an issue before. Makes me wonder if it would've helped me more turning advance trac off also because it lit up on the dash around 100mph each pass. Yes, this was a break boost launch btw

Both my cars have done this at 100 MPH, Advancetrak just shuts down.

The 13 was non pp.

My 14' PP would show "service advancetrac" even when I shut if off....Only when I brake boosted..

I don't think the safety mechanisms like having the brake and throttle depressed at the same time.

I can't help but wonder if the wheel hop and advance trac cost me a tenth or two?  I kept dropping tire pressure hoping it would help but didn't unfortunately

Shoulda read the signature for the PP question... DOH! What RPM are you launching at? I know all cars are different, just trying to see if it is drastically different than my launch.

As other have said, Advance-Trac, even off, gets pissed when you go fast. I had the same thing AJP mentioned happened ~3 times at the track the last time I went, but a quick key-cycle set everything straight. No actual codes, etc.

I have yet to get wheel hop, I wonder if the H&Rs spring rate was a contributing factor there?

Yeah I have never had wheel hop either, stock springs on mine. I had the car fall flat on its face off the line though. Seems like it happens if you hold the brake boost too long... like ajp said, the computer doesn't like to see brake and gas at the same time..

Yeah, nothing lit up on my dash at launch or on the 1-2 shift it wasn't until 100ish that advance trac kicked in. It probably didn't help I was spinning the tires after the water box before staging either. I doubt it was my springs because it hasn't wheel hoped on previous trips with the springs installed
