This was definitely not planned, but I just bought a SHO at an online wholesale auction. It's probably a repo so I paid extra for a post sale inspection that Adesa will perform.
What should I check/listen for when I take possession? It looks clean but you never know.
First... Welcome :WELCOME:
The list can get long... Here's a start.
Try to get the service records.
Register the VIN with ford to find any outstanding TSBs. Check all the cabin and seat air filters. Check all the fluids and filters. Listen for any clunking sounds when you turn the steering wheel. Listen for startup rattle. Listen for exhaust leaks and inspect system for rust/holes. Get a code reader and ask for any codes via OBD2 that may not have set a CEL. Check plugs and equalize gaps. Check for smoke (not steam) from the tail pipes... All of the SHOs will get sooty. Beyond that be sure to turn everything on ( not necessarily all at once) and/or try it's function if it's mechanical... Including the seat controls. Watch the car as you drive it for other things.... While you enjoy the car.
Welcome to SHOwnership, for better or worse ;)
Hmmmm..... in all seriousness, I wonder who's SHO that was?
I spy aftermarket (Mobsteel or Tommy Z) custom grilles, after market wheels, etc.
Either way, good find. Enjoy it. Search around thorugh the site, you'll see what to look out for.

Good looking car! Hope it serves you well.
Definitely check that IAT sensor at the air cleaner box. It's not supposed to have butt connectors like that.
If it is spliced make sure it's tight and not corroded.

our cars are known for sunroof leaks, if you have one.
if you plan on keeping it outside, do a weekly drain hole cleaning using hot water and dish washing liquid to keep everything flowing smoothly...
Grass trimmer/weed wacker line is a great tool to "snake" sunroof drains with. :-)
