I finally took delivery of the replacement of my 2014 SHO as some of you know about about dealer sabotage and a lemon law situation ive posted about.
I drove 3 hours to Avon Park FL to get the car. I also got a 100k 5year Ford Premiumcare ESP just for good luck, Lol.. The car had 14mi on the clock and was on the show room floor from the time it was pulled off the truck. The dealership is in some really remote town, not a lot of people around there would consider an SHO. The dealership didn't even order the car; Ford sent it to them to be a demo on the nearby Sebring Raceway, I had asked for the car 2 months ago so they didn't get to take it, the inventory manager was kinda bummed about not being able to drive it..
So far so good; Tried not to put my foot in it on the way home to let things break-in but traffic was irritating and required some use of the "go" pedal to get the car out of the way of debris and drivers not paying a whole lot of attention; Minor issue with the car is one of the swaybar links weren't tight and the long drive + the horrible state I4 is right now knocked it loose(Guess ford needs to go back to using pins in the castle nuts) I'll either tighten it myself or have a trustworthy dealer check it on its first oil change. Kinda curious on how long I should wait to do first oil change, do they still use break-in oil in these motors?
Nice. What other options did you get?

I really wanted blue jeans to change colors, But we couldn't find one. I think a dealer in Chicago had one but it wasn't even a PP, kinda was base..
I didn't want to wait any longer either for them to make me one after dealing with dealers arguing about not making money on this case, seems like blue is a rarer color..
Congrats on the '16, tho it looks like it's already time to get it up on jackstands or a lift to give it a quick once-over. And a once-over from the top too! Build date apparently Jan 13, 2016. Sync 3!!! Even though it's got the Perf Pkg, check the PTU fluid level.
No break-in oil. Should be running the same oil as spec'd in the owner's manual. Doesn't hurt to be careful, but not downright necessary.
EDIT: Fomoco says there IS breakin oil (see post further down), so IDK. If we can't get documentation, a UOA is the only way to find out?
Congrats! So happy to hear it finally worked out for you! And how do I get a link for my window sticker? The site went down right when I bought my MKS, seems they are using it again now but maybe you need a link from a dealer.
Mystery.... Congrats! I love happy endings.
Scott... I think if your registered on the FLM owners site there is a link there for your WS.
Congrats on the replacement car! Blue jean is an awesome color but that red doesn't look too bad either!

On our 2015 there was break in oil and the Ford hotline suggested we not change it till 4K.

Really, strange ... Any idea if this is for GTDI engines, or across the Ford model lineup? On our naturally aspirated engines, I have been told time & time again by people in the know that there is no breakin oil anymore. Any way to get a hold of documentation?
In the OM, I see this info for 2015 breakin ...
QuoteCalculating Fuel Economy
Do not measure fuel economy during the first 1000 miles
(1600 kilometers) of driving (this is your engine's break-in period); a
more accurate measurement is obtained after 2000 miles–3000 miles
(3200 kilometers–4800 kilometers). Also, fuel expense, frequency of
fill-ups or fuel gauge readings are not accurate ways to measure fuel
economy.
BREAKING-IN
You need to break in new tires for approximately 300 miles
(480 kilometers). During this time, your vehicle may exhibit some unique
driving characteristics. Avoid driving too fast during the first 1000 miles
(1600 kilometers). Vary your speed frequently and change up through
the gears early. Do not labor the engine. Do not tow during the first
1000 miles (1600 kilometers).
Note: In order to allow a break-in period for your vehicle, you may not
be able to create a Vehicle Health Report until your vehicle odometer has
reached 200 miles.
I tried to change at 150 miles and the tech said it smelled like the same type break in oil they put in the Shelby so MrsFoMoCoSHO called the Ford hotline and they indicated that it was and they suggested not changing it before 4K.
As far as documentation, they couldn't find anything at the dealership level hence the call to the hotline.
This may not be relevant since the topic is a rebuild (of a 2.0 Ecoboost), but at least here they are only spec'ing 5W30 Synblend

SHOdded how do you check the ptu fluid level?
I just got back from the dealer, they did a full inspection on the car for me and found the tires are defective from sitting since January and thats why the sidewall is peeling. They ordered the tires and I return this afternoon to get a new set of GoodYear F1's. As far as the clunking noise, they said the driver strut was also suspected that's due to the fact the car sat for so long and temperature change blew it. They are also replacing the passenger strut to match.
I already have 800 miles on her and yesterday had some tuned Hyundai sonata with exhaust and unknown mods face off with me at a light.. I kept out of the throttle until about 15mi and mashed it(not in sport) the guy pulled away from me because the ECU got confused and downshifted late(probably from not being in sport and ecu hasn't learned to be aggressive with my Sunday school like driving the last 3 days.
Kinda hurt my insides a bit to get goosed by a Hyundai, but I wanna get the car up to 1,000mi before I really do something that harsh with it..
Jeez, man, you're ruining our good name ;)
Engine off, trans in Neutral, car up on jackstands or a lift. Remove the fill plug. Fluid must be level with the bottom of the fill opening (no theatrics like with the Edge PTU). They advise a new fill plug every time, not sure why tho.
Drive like normal, just avoid going WOT.
I just wanted to start off by saying Congrats on the new purchase Mystery, also based on your window sticker your build date is 1/4/16 correct?dont think the car was sitting to long IMO. Z ??? BTW Dont touch Anything

Thanks :) What you mean by touching? lol I pulled the wheel off and checked for anything loose before I gave it to the dealer.
It sat in a temperature controlled Environment from the day it was delivered to the dealer and the day before I took delivery
Photo of it in the show room

I didn't do any hard cornering or lane changes when I got it and noticed after the sidewalls were peeling as if it had large razor cuts in them; Quick temperature changes to rubber and strut seals/mounts, plausible for me. It was 96+ in south FL and in the sun, coming from a 68*F show room.
Hell the dealer never did a proper PDI on it, I've enjoyed peeling off a ton of the protective wrap left on the car esp the ones on the black chrome..

Haha, I won't be ruining the name for long, Can't wait to do some undisclosed mods months and months down the road :)
As far as going WOT, ive put her close to it a few times through traffic and yesterday was snap throttle to wot after the intersection.
Doing the break in a lot better than the first SHO, it had 160mi of unknown test drives before me and I put it through paces against some at the local car meet the day before I bought it; Probably why I had so many issues with the ptu and trans besides the dealers. I may never know..
Ill see about using a friends lift to look at the ptu maybe, I blew out my medial retinaculum in my knee, won't be getting under the car anytime soon..
Professional athlete? Too young to have an injury like that! Def be careful and use a lift whenever you can.
I work for the post office lol and its why the cooled seats and remote start sold me on this car for the most part XD; I walk 5-8mi a day.. I have a birth defect in my left knee and its smaller than normal, it dislocated and tore tissue that holds it in place. it slipped out and didn't do much damage to the meniscus or acl/mcl. No surgery needed. Just heal time and exercise..
Best of luck to ya :thumb:
Hey, how do you get MPH in digital format in that left screen like in the OP's signature? Or is that a product of the 2016 or Sync 3 characteristics?
I have a 2015 . . .
I think thats a setup menu, not a continuous display item?
Its one of the improvements in 16 model year i think. Under display its after the tach.
Crap, I was hoping the digital display was hidden and I missed it too. I really like the digital mph, I miss that from my G8. My eyes suck and that bitty speedometer is hard for me to determine exact mph in this police trap infested area I live in.....
You could try a heads up display projection that uses OBD2 data like this:
http://m.hammacher.com/Product/Default.aspx?sku=87916&cm_cat=ProductSEM&cm_pla=AdWordsPLA&source=PRODSEM&gclid=CKPB7reOx80CFYqPfgodM-IM7Q (http://m.hammacher.com/Product/Default.aspx?sku=87916&cm_cat=ProductSEM&cm_pla=AdWordsPLA&source=PRODSEM&gclid=CKPB7reOx80CFYqPfgodM-IM7Q)
Torque Pro has a HUD function, don't know if anyone's tried that out tho.
Since having a Performance Package with NO collision warning feature installed on TOP of the dash maybe you can utilize that space by removing that cover and adding that projection piece there as BiGMaC suggested above or Torque pro as SHOdded mentioned.....best of luck to ya. Z ;)
Haven't used Torque in quite some time, have noticed an updated interface. Will try this week to see how it works out with the HUD.
