Title: Back in action
Post by: 74d34h on July 14, 2013, 10:39:59 AM
I picked up my '13 SHO last August, and installed the AIR Raid CAI, and Livernois 93octane tune. Then in December I got hit by someone that ran a red light about 60mph. They did not total my car because the original estimate was not at the threshhold. By the time the work was done, 6 months and $32k in repairs. I leased the car and I can see the lines are not as good as when I first got the car but its otherwise not bad at all.

Then, 3 days after having my car back, a teenager slammed into it in my parking lot! 3 weeks, and $6k. This car is essentially brand new front to back to include the transmission. Body shop did the body work, Ford did the mechanical parts. I only have 2 years to go. I did finally manage to swap out my factory HIDs for DDM Tuning 6k 35w HIDs and it looks so much nicer now.

That is some horrible luck. Good luck on the bike!

Man that really stinks.  I got hit by a taxi (while standing still) in downtown Chicago 3 days after I bought my new '94 SHO.  I was heartbroken.

I was going to flip the lease and keep the car I like it so much. Not now. That suckers going back to Ford. The accident is also keeping me from going with the lower springs, downpipe and catback exhaust.

Horrible luck for sure..... but glad to hear you're back in the proverbial saddle! :ok:

Any shots of before / after the HID upgrade?

I'd like to see how those turned out.

Been lucky with new cars, not so lucky with older cars that I loved.  x2 on the HID before/after shots :D

Hate to see you've had such bad luck, at least it's still a SHO!

Bright!  Still look quite white for 6000K, I thought maybe a bluish tint, perhaps looking head-on?

What did you change in HID? Just the bulb or did you have to replace the entire system?

Sent from a mobile, I think.

The blue comes in around 8k not the 6k bulbs. I only changed the bulbs. It is a nightmare to change you will cut up your wrists unless you remove the bumper. Or find someone with petite hands maybe! Pull the connector I pryed downward to pop off the connector, then twist the bulbs right out.

My first install of DDM one burned out after a month. I wish I could swap the ballasts for 55w that would really help even more but the d3s is an odd system. I was happy to get the yellow bulbs out. Looks nicer and improves vision.
