Title: TPMS not working?
Post by: Scott4957 on January 05, 2016, 03:29:51 PM
Please don't scold me for being so ignorant to think the dealership would fill the tires to the proper PSI and that the TMPS sensors would tell me otherwise, but I trusted both. I started getting a pull to one side after I had curbed my wheels and was thinking I need to get this thing aligned. I had the wheel repaired the next day and apparently they either took the tire off the wheel or let the air out and then refilled because that tire was at 40psi and the others at 25psi, WTF? Anyways, all fixed now and i will regularly check the pressure but the TPMS never alerted to any issues. I haven't even bothered to find the feature in the car, I believe you can see the PSI on each tire from the left side screen. I have torque too, need to get those PID's setup and test as well. The more nanny systems I get in a car the further removed I become from checking this stuff myself like I should be. I guess its better than the time my mother in law got her oil changed at the VW dealership and asked me to take a look when she saw some oil drips on the ground where she parks. The plug was hanging on by the last thread!

Tpms wouldnt alert u of a large pressure discrepancy...and i think 25 psi is right on the threshold of low..with the ford vcm ii you can change what the warning will be ...its been awhile but i thought 25 was stock

Interesting. For my MKS it's 35 front and rear. With temp fluctuations I guess it can't be too tight but I would think 10 psi would be enough. It might be set at ten and I was at 9 all around and +5 on one.

I've had mine down to 22 at the track with no warnings going off.

I dont think it matters how high the pressure is...if there is enough then all is good..if 1 is less than the minimum required then tpms will let u know...and i dont mean the door reccomemded

They were at 22 for a good 5 hours...well they'd go up to 24 right after a run, but then slowly come back down.

Well I guess I will just get torque setup with the sensor data so I can keep an eye on them. This time a year its no fun walking round the car freezing you ass off checking the tires like I was doing today. Should see some better gas mileage now! LOL

Due to a random issue with my winter wheels, I happen to have the tpms manual and the training tool sitting here.

This is for a 2015 however and Gen 4.1 may be different. I love how they say there is a low pressure limit but fail to tell you what that is.

Here is something....looks like on the 2015 the minimum is the lowest indicated on the vehicle certification label.

So I guess if I ever fool with my pressures at the track the car is gonna start bitching at me.

Your Lincoln dealer should do courtesy adjustments for you. I know Ford dealerships with Quicklanes do as well.

I dont remember for sure but I dont think you have a body control module so I suspect the tpms strategy may be different as the 2015 uses the bcm.

In my case the remote start feature was disabled in the morning because of a low tire, think it was down to roughly around 20psi as i recall followed by my phone alerting me also, you need to get a tpms app.  Z   ;)

What app do you use? I took a brief look in the play store and didn't find anything with a decent rating. I assume the only way it can access the data is through a bluetooth OBDII reader?

Haha, well there are apps out there! That looks nice, I would think there would be an aftermarket option out there for less money. Looks easy to install.
