Title: Making a throttle body spacer plate for 13' SHO with methanol ports
Post by: ddlopes on October 20, 2015, 08:13:34 AM
I'm in the process of having a throttle body spacer made for my 13' SHO PP.  The plate is being made solely for injecting methanol.  I just want some opinions on using gasket maker instead of having the spacer plate milled on the throttle body side for the factory seal... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I would say just use a little Blk rtv silicone. However, be sure to use a solonoid or whatever they use to prevent syphoning the meth in since it will be after the throttle body.

I decided to have the spacer plate machined to accepted the factory seal... I'll post some pics next week when it's done...

Well the spacer plate is done. I wasn't able to have it machined for the factory seal due to the thickness I had chosen. I wanted to keep the thickness at a minimum. Mainly so I would be moving the throttlebody and hoses too far forward. I'm extremely happy with how it came out! I'll now use some liquid gasket to seal the throttlebody plate to the throttlebody.

how much did this plate cost? And, what are the chances of this spacer being mass produced for those that want an easy setup and to be able to take it off to go back to stock in no time?

I guess to answer my own question, local auto parts sell these spacers/or ebay, we just need to have someone drill them so the fitting can go in.

The question is, will this affect the air going into intake/ECM....and all that good stuff, or the spacer would have no effect on anything?

Cost me $150... Not sure on mass produced but I'll ask my friend who made it.

This particular plate shouldn't have any affect. It's simply an easy way to inject methanol without having to drill a whole in my factory tube. Plus I wanted to injected methanol after the throttle body.

This is pretty cool, and the path I would be interested in taking when I go Meth

Just FYI- Snow sells these for some vehicles, the only EB is the F150: http://www.snowperformance.net/Snow-Performance-F-150-EcoBoost-Injection-Plate-p/40078.htm (http://www.snowperformance.net/Snow-Performance-F-150-EcoBoost-Injection-Plate-p/40078.htm)

Though I will note, that the pics of the spacer you had made looks close to the F-150 version

Can you show a pic with the meth nozzle attached?

I would like to see if the spray is unobstructed.

Great job!!!!

Just now seeing this. Erick at Leading Edge has been making these for awhile now for those interested in something similar. Been running mine since the summer.
