Hey guys, i thought I'd ask you guys with a 2010-2012 SHO's with the Ford remote start if you have had any problems with the remote start after a tune.
My remote start will now just turn on accessories and headlights, but wont even try to engage the starter. This started shortly after put an Unleashed tune on the car for the first time. It is probably a coincidence, but that is the only thing different about the car between the remote start working and no longer working. And I cannot remember if I had ever tried the remote start right after the tune. I emailed Torrie about the issue and he said he does not control the remote start module. So I returned the tune to stock and took it to the dealership. They claim they will need to try to reprogram the hidden key fob but they have no idea if it will fix the problem nor did they know where the hidden keyfob is hidden. I would think if it turns on the accessories then the fob is being recognized. I noticed that the remote start no longer engages the brake light when starting. So i sat in the car and held the brakes while the remote start is being pressed and sure enough the car started.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? Please tell me the tune has nothing to do with it. I don't wanna have to risk having the dealership looking at the car with a tune installed just so they can program the fob.
I would flash back to stock and see if the problem remains.
Check the fuses too, underneath the steering wheel, above the brake pedal to the left.
I flashed it to stock before I took it to the dealership and acted the same. I'm just curious if the actual tuning procedure had something to with it. It still has 30k left on warranty, that is why I don't want to have to take it there with the tune still on. However it will be no fun if they fix it, then it breaks again once I re tune it.
I will check the fuse.
While the stock tune is on, two quick things to try:
A) disconnect negative terminal of battery for 30 min, then reconnect. Let PCM relearn. See if that restores remote start.
B) change batteries in the key fobs

Thanks Shodded. Ill try it this weekend.
I had this happen on my sho. i found that using the keypad turns remote start off on my car. I had to unlock the car with the keypad and then use the fob to lock and remote start. I'm not sure if that would work for everyone, but seemed to work on mine.
I sent it to the dealership that installed the remote start today.
Turns out either my big feet or the brake pedal itself snagged a wire that triggers the brake switch and pulled it out of the module. Dealership fixed and rerouted the wire at no charge. Works perfect again.
Sometimes ya just gotta go hands-on to figure things out :) All's well that ends well!
