Title: Adaptive Cruise Not Working
Post by: JDW1 on September 08, 2015, 03:51:24 PM
Hey guys, I searched around but didn't see anything on this.  Anyone have their adaptive cruise not work?  I have a radar detector in my lower frond windshield but i don't think that's it.

I know there is a TSB on that, but also make sure the sensors on the front bumper are clear of any wax or dirt buildup of anykind because they will sometimes cause a false reading, same goes for the windshield, BTW where did you connect (splice)your wires for the radar onto. I didn't see that TSB while looking through the list yesterday, i'll have to take another and see about the fix.  Isn't the AC sensor in the windshield in the rear view mirror housing? I didn't think the bumper had anything to do with it.  As for my radar detector, I just run the wire down along side the touch screen out of the way and connect into the console power outlet.

Nope, no messages or warnings.  One time i set it and did a test.  The collision warning went off and AC did nothing.

There is also a sensor located behind a fascia cover near the driver side of the grille,if that radar is obstructed it will not function, also your brakes play a role in the systems functions.  Z

I can check for a sensor behind the fascia and make sure is seems hooked up properly and isn't obstructed but I'm not sure why anything with the brakes would be throwing it off.  Get to that sensor from top or bottom?

Bottom

Not sure why it's leaving out the "b"
Tried to correct it several times.

I think if you could check that sensor and make sure its clean and check the connections for any dirt buildup, the sensor is attached to a bracket.  Z

There hasn't been any damage since I've owned the car, carfax said mild rear collision so that shouldn't matter.  It will be the weekend before I can get up under the car.  My wife was already getting impatient about the two evenings spent last week after work on the rotors, plugs, t-stat and tune... lol

Agree with Z.... And clean any connection you undo on principle.... Consider some dielectric when reconnecting?.

Do you have an OBD reader?  If so, you could try to use Forscan and modify the reader to read the advanced data and see what the systems are saying

I would go back to that moms and pops dealer and see if they will compensate you for the part which is not cheap, there is definetly a thirty day warranty on any used car purchased from any dealer, not quite sure how much you paid for your vehicle but definetly go knock on there door or better yet break it down if there is no solution to the matter.  Z
