I hear a clicking type noise like something is loose in the drive train...it comes from the front right(passenger) wheel area and happens when I shift from reverse to drive or vice versa and when I turn the wheel at slow speeds or go over bumps. When I turn the wheel back and forth at slow speeds it makes the exact same 3 click pattern noise every time. It does not make any noise when I turn the wheel back and forth when stopped. I am still under warranty so that will save me some $$? Anyone else have this issue or know what it is? All my wheel bearings were replaced over the winter and the PTU was replaced just over a year ago. I also have had the transmission TSB done.
take a look under to see how your cv axle boot looks like and rips or tares must likely you'll need to replace it..
what I don't like about the dealer when they fix this issue is they'll replace just the boot. When the full axle should be replace since dirt and water must likely entered inn
Does sound like a CV joint or axle. Had it been a 13+, would have said needs the "washer" TSB.
The noise got worse tonight as I was making a slow left turn, a binding, snapping/grinding noise, then it went away and didn't repeat itself,.I got home, pulled into the shop, put the 2-Bar back in, the old airbox and then flashed back to stock. In case I break down this weekend I am all set for the dealer.
Sounds like the front right cv joint as mentioned above.
There's a TSB for this and it sounds like your issue... I had the same problem and it was resolved with this TSB: http://www.taurusclub.com/forum/114-5th-6th-gen-maintenance-repair/244346-tsb-14-0186-ting-pop-click-noise-front-halfshaft.html

Okay... Sorry, I didn't read your post above about the binding/grinding noise... So maybe it's the cv joint? Sure hope it's under warranty and please do update us once resolved. Good luck!
