Title: 2010 remote start solenoid, clicks when braking.
Post by: nannho on July 17, 2015, 02:57:41 PM
Per the dealer, not much they can do. The remote start is covered for life. and it is working just fine too. They said that can pull it out and send to Ford, but since it works fine, they would charge back.

Anyone else having this noise? A singular tick.

Educate me... Why would the remote start solenoid be activated by brake application... short, ground fault, loose or dirty connection?  Just wondering if anyone knows or has thoughts on this behavior.

It seems like three dealer is not sure if that's the problem, obviously if it is making abnormal sounds it is not good, I don't get why they said that ford would not pay for it. I would be persistent. But, I did not know that starting system is under life time warranty.

It makes me wonder as BiGMaC said earlier the likelihood of a bad ground or relay associated with the BCM which has many functions throughout the vehicle, any codes set?  Z

An OEM Remote Start for a 2010 is a hardwired kit.  There is no solenoid in it.  Maybe mini relays in the brain box.  I am thinking brake interlock solenoid making the noise?

that was going to be my suggestion. the brake lock on the shifter can make an audible clunk and you can even feel it in the shifter handle if its more than it should be.
