Title: New member 2011 Sho
Post by: Blackhawk on April 01, 2015, 04:36:47 PM
Hey all,
I just picked a 2011 SHO Kona Blue with PP from out of state this past weekend.  This isn't my first rodeo as I have had a couple supercharged cobras, turbo eagle talon, and a 2011 WRX.  Most recently I drove a Chevy Cruze for the MPG for about two years but finally got sick of the 1.4L.

I actually took the car to the drag strip within 30 minutes of buying it since I had to pass one of our local tracks on the way home and it just so happened to be opening day with free racing.  The car ran a 14.0@99  w/2.1 60ft on the first pass, I made a bunch more passes trying to crack 13's before I realized that I probably needed to let the car cool down.  Also the dealer gave me a full tank of gas which I assume was not premium since the car does not officially require it.

I already put the order in for tune, plugs, t-stat, and 3 bar.  All the info on tuners makes it hard to decide but in the end I went with unleashed because I am a cheap ass.

Welcome!

Post up some pics, that's a rare SHO you got there!

Love you that you took it to the drag strip on your way hom, you'll fit right in here!

My new SCT from Unleashed just arrived at my home today.  Should have her tuned next week after I put in new plugs.

I also went with Unleashed because it's $200 cheaper and you can data log with Torrie.

Welcome aboard the E.B.P.F partner, post some pics of the new ride, good choice in tuning and are you doing any datalogging yet?sometimes its crucial to set and find the correct configurations in order to achieve the best performance, and any questions you may have always feel free to ask and another note using a top tier gas like 93 Exxon,Shell is very imortant if you have 93 in your area.Z

Thanks for all the tips especially the track post.  I was surprised I couldn't do better than a 2.1 60ft but I think I was launching too high plus I have no idea what my tires are inflated too.  The previous owner must have bought the cheapest tires they could find, they are called delinte desert storms which I have never heard of before.

I'm really happy with the car so far but I think it's going to cost me some speeding tickets.  90mph feels like 60mph to me and 35 feels like I am barely moving.

I haven't taken pictures yet but I pulled one off the dealers site before they took it down.  The car needs tints and I also have to pull the pinstripe off once the weather gets a little warmer and I can leave it in the sun. Of course it also has the peeling chrome taillights so those will be getting a plastidip treatment.

The Delinte Desert Storm D8 is supposedly an all season truck radial.  Can't find many reviews on it, certainly none on a major retailer site.

Plastidip is a good solution for the taillights.  Alternatively, you can scrape off the chrome carefully, and paint them.  Or find SEL trim taillights for replacement.

Pics as stuff happens :)

Nice color!

If Ford offered blue for the XSport, I wouldn't have black.

I'll guess I'll have to add tires to the list of things I need!  I'm hoping even with these tires that the unleashed tune will get me under 2.0 60ft.
