Title: 2013 SHO wheel studs specs
Post by: BigPelo on June 19, 2013, 12:54:18 PM
Trying to get an answer here:

I have 8mm wheel spacer on hand from a previous car. They do fit the wheel pattern but nuts only have 2.5-3 threads engagement then. What I want to do is change my wheel studs to fit the 8mm spacers. I tried to find info on the web but what I found is incomplete and contradictory. Sometime list as 1/2-20 other time 12mmX1.5. Stud lenght and knurl diameter are never revealed...

Do someone have the complete wheel studs specification for the 2013 SHO with performance package? Thanks a lot!

(I know, I shoud dissemble one or buy a new one and measure it myself but I am pretty sure someone knows)

Sorry.  I don't know.  But I would like to know how you make out with it.  8mm is 5/16"   That would make your track 5/8" inch wider.  Very subtle but I think it might add to the over all appearance and handling.  Good luck and be sure to let us know how it comes out.  Are you going to do front and back?  Is our track a little wider in front?

Have you considered calling TireRack, or looking on Rock Auto's website?

I am doing spacers mainly for apperance. I want to do the job at the same time I install Eibach springs. I find lowered cars increase the gap between wheel and fender because they're closer.

I might try tirerack. Thanks for the tip!

Good luck on the project!  Don't forget the before and after pictures.  (Close ups too)  I have the Eibachs too and am really interested to see how this works out.

Are those measures the distance between wheels in inches or the lenght of the studs in mm?

That is the track I believe it is measured from wheel center to center.

I would think a dealer would be able to tell you or get the info you need from Ford. I feel your frustration but I don't think it is common knowledge.

Project not dead but still no advancement. I went to car quest, Napa, tuning shop and local tire and wheel specialist. No one was able to find any infos on those wheel studs. But! My wife's cousin work for a Ford dealer and I asked him if he could help. Hopefully they are in stock because dealers only have parts number link to VIN without specs... This is my last chance before I dissemble one and measure it myself.

Finally! Long story short:

Wife's cousin order an hub assembly as it wasn't in stock. Got back ordered then was delivered during his vacation. This morning, he had some spare time so he dissemble one stud from the hub assembly, measure it and took pictures:

1/2-20 RH 60mm long, 30 grooves on the knurl, all the same 20 studs for the 4 corners

Now I need to find longer aftermarket studs that fit with my 8mm spacers.

No problem.  Let us know how you made out.  I have eibachs too but have not installed them.  I am going with 1/2" spacers.

Hmmm, I've been running 5/16 rear spacer for months... and had plenty of room. Id say 4-5 threads, iirc. I stole em from my mustang, hell I slid my maximum motorsports 1/2" on but hub diameter kept me from using them.

I wonder what's causing the difference... I felt I had so much room I actually ordered a 7/16 that I'm going to try to slide on rear and move my 5/16 to front.

I'm changing my oil today or next weekend (depending on rain), and I'll take the time to play with it and report my findings

Yea tons of room... I moved my 5/16 up front today and put new 7/16 out back.
I got 6 full rotations of the nut before i couldn't turn it by hand anymore.
That's plenty for me to feel comfy

You're lucky! Why so much difference vs mine? Weird...

Any pictures of the wheel gap with the 7/16 spacers?

No pics... but I'll get a few angles tomorrow and post em up after work.

I could def tell a diff when I had the 5/16 on so this 7/16 is noticeable for sure.
Like you mentioned, the lower the car is the more pronounced the tucked-in look becomes. Being on h&r's and a 27" tire, im glad I decided to try the spacers. Even front looks a lot better with a lil extra track.

So 7/16'' spacers with H&R drop and no rubbing at all?

Nope, no rubbing... even with stock height tires it wouldn't.
I took some pics today, but im on my Nook right now, I'll get them up soon.

Thread ressurrection!

The studs in the proposed image have knurl dia of .665''
We would need 0.550'' on the SHO.
