Title: 2014 Sport redline
Post by: jzales on October 09, 2014, 08:56:15 AM
I have an sct x4 tuner and when uploading my tune under the user options I saw the redline was set at 6200 rpm.  I do not want to go over the factory redline but I also do not want to lose rpms.. right now my truck shifts right before I cross the finish line in the 1/4.

I would ask your tuner and go from there. If you get into redline your engine will fall flat on its face to save the motor.
Which will be worse than shifting before the finish line.

Typically that is done to keep you in the power band after the shift.

keep in mind these motors don't breath at high rpm, so power is falling off rapidly after 5800 rpm.

So if we were racing, all other things being equal, I would be 500 rpm into peak power and you are dropping off power at the same time....im gonna win that race everytime.
