Ever since I bought my SHO in 2012, I missed my STi. The sound, rough ride, light weight, manual transmission, no electronic driving aids, etc...
Couple months ago I started looking for older WRX. 2 weeks ago I caved in and got myself an 2002 WRX wagon with a complete swap to JDM STi (EJ207 v7 motor, transmission, diff, brakes, seats, cluster, wheels). Body needs work, everything else is working. Tuning mid-July with a downpipe.

This car is quite different from the SHO, low end torque is non-existent but engine revs up to 8000rpm, it's a manual 6sp, steering is heavy, confort and options are limited: a/c, cruise control and tape cassette player. It completely satisfys my car needs.
This bug lives :D Looking forward to your build & time slips.

Very nice find.
Jeez, I'm getting old, lol!
The thought of getting out of the SHO into that is, well, terrible!
However, I'd have loved it 15 years ago.

He knows the technical thing to make you and your car faster if you lesson to him.
How much did you pay? Miles?
7k$ and 72k engine, 180k body
Road tune is done. Car is quieter, runs smoother, much better low and mid range torque for streetability (if it's a word?) and pulls strong to 7k+ rpm. Now I am going to the track with my bro-in-law and both my cars to see which one's the fastest, July 23th.
Post some vids & slips!
So the Rex did one pass at the track last night. 13.2@104
Only one pass because the clutch is now stuck close... You got to pay to play I guess.

Lots of parts awaiting to be installed this spring for both my cars. Stupid weather is holding me back :

specs on the new snail? weather's been a thrill a minute, supposed to be sunny and decently warm tomorrow, hoping today's frozen mix was a parting shot.

Should be able to get 340-350 whp with stock intercooler.
Good stuff!
The car is tune with the New snail. We haven't been able to get more than 312 whp because of sensors and injectors problems. But still the car runs great, pushs hard in any gears and isn't too laggy. Now I need to hit the 1/4 to see what it can do.

Always liked the Sub WRX. The only thing I hate about them is they got beat on hard. Its hard to find ones that weren't abused.
It will be a fun daily driver for sure. I don't even know what a cassette deck is anymore. Lol.
