Title: P0455 Code
Post by: FaSSt9602 on June 04, 2014, 07:37:24 PM
Anyone gotten one of these on an EB car, possibly Flex specifically?  I know usually the biggest culprit of this code is a bad gas cap, but since the car doesn't have a gas cap, what else should I look for?

My research says it's a purge valve short.

•A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
•A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
•Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

The other member is possibly correct,it could be the purge valve, one in the engine and one in the rear, the one in the engine is really cheap,i would personally focus in the gas lid, cause if not sealed properly, due to suction and vapor escaping it will set a code off, check gasket in gas lid,for wear and on the sho they sell a key gas cap, hope this helps

EVAP systems can be headaches, seeing as the systems are designed detect leaks as small as pin holes. Could be a purge valve which is stuck open, or gunked up. Could be a purge valve solenoid which has failed to operate correctly, could be the gas cap. Doubtful there is a leak elsewhere, as most other parts of the system typically have enough integrity to last a decade or so, before cracks and such begin to develop.
